Re: What TV show are you watching right now?
Currently watching/recently watched:
Star Trek: Discovery - it's alright. However, I don't think I'd be too bothered if I missed an ep or two. Still watching for now.
The Orville - I gave it six or so episodes to see if I'd grow into it, but the humour is cringey at best and there's very little motivation to continue watching it. Ditched.
Bull - Started ok, but got very samey very quickly. I haven't ditched it yet, but I'm not impatiently awaiting every ep. Still watching for now.
Designated Survivor - Enough intrigue and interest in the characters to keep me watching. Still watching..
The Walking Dead - Back into this now after leaving it alone for a couple of years. Done some serious binge watching. Still watching.
The Big Bang Theory - Never thought I'd get bored of this, but it is definitely circling the drain IMO. Likely to be ditched
The Last Ship - Getting bored of this now - still haven't seen the last couple of episodes. Likely to be ditched
Previous regular viewing:
Marvels Agents of Shield - Got bored of it in season three - ditched
Blindspot - Got bored of it in season two - ditched
Shooter - got bored before the end of season one - ditched
Westworld - I was a big fan of the film and was really looking forward to this. Managed about six or seven episodes and lost interest - ditched
Ray Donovan - Tried it, but couldn't get into it - ditched
Re: What TV show are you watching right now?
Stranger Things - Season 2 - 8/10 so far
The Walking Dead - Season 8 - 6/10 so far
Eagerly awaiting The Expanse Season 3
Planning on catching up on Mr Robot (Amazon Prime), which was excellent to the point I've currently watched it (end of season 2 I think?)
Re: What TV show are you watching right now?
Motherland on BBC2. Pretty funny take on 'middle-class' parenting.
Re: What TV show are you watching right now?
Currently just finished Dark on Netflix, which I'd recommend. It's like a German Language Stranger things, except more of a Sci-Fi element. It starts of very slow though.
Re: What TV show are you watching right now?
Altered Carbon. Cross between Blade Runner and Demolition Man. Enjoying it so far.
Was watching Van Helsing S2, but I'm enjoying it less than S1... :(

Star Trek Discovery - Poor, but it's Star Trek , so still watching
Strike Back - Good to see a show with a lot of action

X Files - Didn't know the new season had started airing. OMG, where have I been?!
DC Legends of tomorrow - On hold, when I really get bored and have nothing else to watch

to ensure there is someone making stuff that isn't just commercial "churn-it-out-for-subscription" aimed at the lowest common denominator, but is obliged to present varied and unbiased programming. I think £12pm is well worth it. Find a TV package that does better than that and doesn't bombard you with adverts.

Because it is a legal requirement - and I see you are enjoying Dr Who, which was made by the BBC funded in part by your License fee.
That also gives you access to varied programming for the cost of a pint of beer a week. Pretty good value for money.

Well I'm not enjoying Dr Who anymore, and unless the next season gets great reviews, I won't be watching it again. I watch nothing on BBC at all, nor do I watch Live TV on any other channel, except the news, but there are other ways to get that info of course.
A TV license is only a legal requirement if you're watching Live TV or catchup TV through BBC iPlayer. Honestly I'm getting to the stage where I can live without those services quite happily.
IMO the BBC has taken far too many turns for the worse lately. I was happy to pay the license fee before, as I was getting good stuff from the BBC. Although not part of the license fee, I enjoyed BBC local radio, and some of the online services like Traffic reports and recipies. Traffic reports were taken down, 1000's of recipies withdrawn, and the local radio lacks anything unique these days.
I don't get value for money myself, but that's just me. Now if the BBC gave me access via iPlayer to their entire back catalog of programmes, rather than just what they think I want to watch, then I'd be very happy!

Have you checked whether those turns for the worse are due to the Tory government changing the charter recently and being rather harsh in what the beeb can and can't do? Plus blocking raising the licence fee - due to people like yourself complaining. More importantly we have to be clear that no-one has demonstrated that this is in anyway linked to the closeness of Murdoch to the tory cabinet present or former, and in no way intended to undermine the ability of the BBC to compete with such paid services as Sky TV etc. It just happens to be coincidence that Michael Gove got employed by Murdoch. After all, it's not like the Tories to undermine and underfund viable services to the point where private ownership looks appealing. Trains, schools, NHS, BBC, all national treasures that would never become creepingly privatised, deliberately underfunded to the point of collapse, and forced transfer of ownership into private hands....

They were told to scale back local new including radio, recipes and traffic as it was deemed they were impacting on the private sectors attempts to deliver the same.
