New show? Season 3 has almost ended....
Is there not already a thread or two about it here?
I seem to recall avoiding it, as I haven't seen 3 yet...
Does Season 3 improve? I started watching it but the 1st 2 episodes were so boring compared to previous seasons that I I lost interest.
I've really enjoyed it to be honest. I was slightly put off by the "family" tint to it but still it's one of the first things I watch when confronted with a new weeks worth of TV series to get through.
You mean the storyline being centred around family... or that it's Family-Friendly, with no swearing, no boobs and minimal violence?
If the former, the whole thing is supposed to be based around the family of (the somehow 'mythical') Ragnar Lothbrok and his (very historically confirmed) sons as they rise to power and do... 'stuff'.
Always thought it was weird how historians doubt the existence of Ragnar, yet still assert that evidence of his sons is plentiful...!
The later......what with the history of vikings being a very violent and bloody thing, the series seems a tad tame in telling a story against that history.......but I guess it is made by the history channel, so you got to accept that.
There is actually an edit with more boobs. I noticed this when watching at a friend's house, in the scene where Aslaug is first seen bathing in the pond, as their version showed a LOT more skin than the one I saw!
I assume that either Amazon Prime is showing us the toned-down version, or things will pick up again.
Certainly it was not blood and guts every day for a Viking, but overall it is still quite nasty and I really like how they don't go WAAAAAAAAAY overboard on the boobs and gore like Spartacus, et al, as they just smack of sensationalist padding instead of decent content.
Family friendly - we must be watching different versions, but its not GoT levels of sex and violence.
