Attack the Block - the fourth viewing
hi people
I watched it once and laughed hard, enjoyed it and rated it mentally highly.
I watched it again months later and enjoyed it more, deeper and with better respect for the opening scenes
I watched it a third time earlier this year, with mates, who enjoyed it hugely and I enjoyed watching their reactions
and last night .. I actually found myself thinking "I've not watched it for ages and I miss it" like you do with a truly great, classic film.
I enjoyed it HUGELY ... that fourth was the BEST viewing AND I could easily have watched it again instantly.
It has now entered my all time top 10, with Sean of the Dead, Zombie Land, Shawshank, Leon, Great Escape etc
If you haven't yet..... I think I can't explain in any better than that. Watch it .
Re: Attack the Block - the fourth viewing
I shall add something....
PLEASE.. dont watch any clips... ignore Utube ....watch it entirely.
Re: Attack the Block - the fourth viewing
I watched it as I'm am Adam and Joe fan but I'm not sure what I feel about it, I wouldn't put it on par with Shaun of the Dead though.
Enjoyable, bit obvious in places but definitely one to watch at some point in your life.
I think as I felt no sympathy for and could not relate to the main characters it didn't totally click with me, you must be a ned :D
I also watched Son of Rambo as Garth was the director (and he did Hitchikers Guide which I enjoyed!) so I've seen a few things just because they're somehow related to A&J, what's Joe up to recently? I know Adam had Bug and many other projects on the go.
Re: Attack the Block - the fourth viewing
Good movie, it flew a little bit under the radar in a bit of a Tucker and Dale vs Evil fashion but I'd put it up there with Worlds End and Paul out of the Cornetto movies, Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz live up there in some really rarified air for me though. Being a big Romero fan Shaun of the Dead just blows everything else out of the water!
Re: Attack the Block - the fourth viewing
I do rate Shaun of the Dead higher... but not Hot Fuzz. It missed the top notch mark for me. Paul was no where near standard to be honest
the superb-ness of ATB is that .... the characters , the kids, High Hat.. the girl... they're real .. I know/knew people like them. They're so clevery created.. and the aliens hold the right balance of hard to see.. and fear
Re: Attack the Block - the fourth viewing
I got this on DVD years ago when it came out, i don't remember it too vividly -but I don't recall it being terrible. Some good bits in it. Felt low-budget, but quality low budget.
Is it out on BluRay? Might try and grab it again and give it another go.
Re: Attack the Block - the fourth viewing
Paul wasn't a cornetto trilogy movie ;)
ATB is certainly low budget, the main alien is laughable and the others look a bit funny at first but it kinda works well with the whole feel of the film.

I'm the other way round with Shaun of the dead and Hot fuzz, but both excellent. Although i do agree about Paul .....
I defenatly agree with attack the block. It's a very good watch. :)
Re: Attack the Block - the fourth viewing
I haven't watched AtB, but seeing it compared to the likes of Simon Pegg flicks and Tucker and Dale makes me wanna give it a wide berth.
Different strokes.
