Favourite Places to LEGALLY Buy Anime/Manga - and is Digital an option?

Recently I was trying to track down an anime movie. It's a few years old and was surprisingly hard to get hold of. Admittedly I'm in Gibraltar, so the 3rd party sellers on Amazon wouldn't ship it here (sometimes I wonder where people think Gibraltar is located), and other sites had it only at very high cost. The Blu-Ray was available in places and some local shops could bring the Blu-Ray in but I don't own a Blu-Ray player so that wasn't an option. I would have preferred a digital download but I couldn't find anywhere that offered it in that format.

In the end I found the movie for sale as DVD, at a reasonable price, via Australian site www.madman.com.au in their anime section. Actually seems like a decent site overall, so I might start shopping there if I can't find anywhere better.

Still, it got me wondering what the best places were for Anime/Manga purchases and, most of all, if there is anywhere out there selling anime as a digital download. iTunes offer a limited selection, although we all know the sort of DRM associated with that. Amazon don't have a massive selection either. Are digital downloads of anime a bit of a missing niche right now - or has someone found a corner of the internet where there are actually LEGAL digital downloads available?

YouTube has a reasonable selection of 80-90s stuff. Of course everything on YouTube is legal

What's the film you were after?

Like most of the video content these days, it's gone the way of streaming rather than downloads. I watch a bit on Netflix, and might consider moving to Crunchyroll once we've got through the non-anime content we're interested in. Not sure on downloads though, I got the second series of Sword Art Online from a seller in Indonesia from memory as it hadn't been released globally - ebay special! Even appears to be genuine...

Like I said. I finally found it. And the aim of the thread is really about place to purchase anime/manga, not just watch them.
