"Give the gift of books...."
...except if you're in the UK!
Seriously, why can we not gift a Kindle eBook here??!!
Is there some law against it, some addition tax on gifting already-taxed digital media?
Can one at least buy the eBook and send it to someone's Kindle email address?
Re: "Give the gift of books...."
Yep, daft innit. You can only send them to your own registered Kindle.
Re: "Give the gift of books...."
So I literally cannot buy my Mrs a Kindle Book unless I log in to her Amazon account?
This must be a UK thing, as the US site does let you gift these... but it also knows you're in the UK and won't let you buy US!
Re: "Give the gift of books...."
you can lend them....
so buy it yourself and then log into Kindle and lend it.. then you lose it and they get it
assumig you don't put a dirty tea cup on it, it should look good as new when you lend it to her
Re: "Give the gift of books...."
If your Amazon account is linked to hers, she can see and read everything in your library. It's called Kindle Household or something. But it's a bit naff.
"Here you go love, I give you the gift of reading some books I've already bought for myself"

Re: "Give the gift of books...."
But what if I don't even have an Amazon account, let alone my own Kindle?
Re: "Give the gift of books...."
Ah, that would put a spanner in the works.
