And with that remark, there's no point in any of us reading the books or watching the rest of this show.
Anyone got a suggestion for what to watch instead?

I did put out a spoiler alert but fair point, my post has been edited, you may want to do the same yourself.

Spoilers are best done in ***BIG HIGHLIGHTED TEXT*** well in advance at the beginning of the post, or ideally with a clicky hider function, if the forum has such an option.
The main reason is that some of us read quite fast and, even when just scrolling through a thread, can still pick up the majority of the text.

Final book was released this week, I'm about 2/3 the way through and very much enjoying it.
Given the big time jumps after the book this series is based on I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Amazon cover the rest as feature length one offs for each subsequent book.
Re: The Expanse - best hard sci fi show in years!!
I haven't had a chance to read the books. Not sure at this point if it would add or takeaway from the series. Starting the books near the end of the series, might be better to wait until I've watched it then start on the books. Either way gives me a few things to watch/do this December. The second series of The Witcher is also out this month.

I'd wait till the series has finished. While they do diverge in places it will spoil the upcoming series. They're well worth a read afterwards.
Re: The Expanse - best hard sci fi show in years!!
Good to know the last book is out now - they delayed it a couple of times.
Re: The Expanse - best hard sci fi show in years!!
Cannot wait for this, really looking forward to this
Re: The Expanse - best hard sci fi show in years!!
Got my copy this week, really need to get started on it. Might have to wait till I'm on holiday of the Christmas period but after waiting for so long for it to come out i can feel it sitting there calling to me.....
Edit: Also got the problem of when i have finished it, what am I going to read next!? I know there is a collection of related short stories that i might take a look at but thinking longer term!!!!
The other 2 writers that I liked (Tom Clancy and Terry Pratchett) are no longer with us and this was the first thing after those that i really got into and now its over!

Or The Wheel of Time :) Or any of Sanderson's work - Mistborn - The Stormlight Archive - Skyfall.
Re: The Expanse - best hard sci fi show in years!!
Wheel of time is boring tho..
Re: The Expanse - best hard sci fi show in years!!
I really enjoyed the books, to be honest. There is a slog in the middle but the ending makes up for it. The TV show - still not sure. It needs a bigger budget.
Re: The Expanse - best hard sci fi show in years!!
I think it was earlier in this thread (it was somewhere on Hexus at least) someone mentioned John Scalzi's "Old Man's War" books. I binge read the lot, something I don't usually do, so thanks for the steer there whoever it was.

You (and everyone else in this thread) would almost certainly enjoy the Three Body Problem trilogy.
