    Question Record/safe music streaming

    Hey guys

I have a Spotify account and I' really satisfied with that.
But sometimes it would be great to here the Music offline.
So I thought about a Software or program which can record the Songs from my Spotify account.
That wouldn't be illegal I think, because it's the same thing we did years before, when we recorded the Music from Radios with cassettes or not?

What you guys think? Is there a Software or program which can do this?

    Thanks in advance

    Re: Record/safe music streaming

At the very best, ripping music from Spotify is against the terms and conditions that you agree to when you sign up. At the worst it could be construed as illegal copying.

Even if it is technically legal to record songs as they're being played on Spotify - and that is a contentious issue in and of itself - it is explicitly forbidden by the spotify T&Cs, so this is not the place for that discussion. There are plenty of services that allow you to legally download, for an appropriate charge, any songs that you want to be able to listen to off-line: I'd suggest you investigate those instead...

    Re: Record/safe music streaming

Further to scaryjim's comments, recording from, or "ripping" Spotify streaming is explicitly prohibited by the User Agreement any Spotify customer accepted.

Beyond that, it may or may not be legal depending on the laws of the country the person doing it in resident in. To the best of our understanding, it is illegal here, in the UK, where HEXUS is based. On that basis, our own forum rules prohibited discussing how to go about doing such iliegal things. There are plenty of places on the web where such things are discussed, but sorry Pirate, this isn't one of them.

Changes in law have been mooted which might, in future, change our stance, but until then, I've closed this thread.

Just to add, you may only access Spotify through the Spotify apps or other authorised application. Spotify premium does allow for offline listening, but the free service does not.

I am not a Spotify user, but I would expect that to be controlled via the Spotify app.
