True Grit - Jef Bridges, Matt Damon
This is class.

Utterly class.
Jeff Bridges has some of the finest facial expression acting and he's on top form throughout.
I have to say, I struggle to find fault with it. It captivated me, and held me utterly focused throughout.
Matt Damon plays a blinder too. It made me laugh and it had me tense with expectation and it had the perfect level of ... of... "grit"!!
OK.. It's a cowboy film. So it's got a few of you wondering if I'm mental. But it's a superb film in it's own right and it's filmed so simply. It IS simplicity itself.
Watch it. Every moment from a young girl negotiating so hard it makes you wince .. to gun fights..... is worthy viewing.
Re: True Grit - Jef Bridges, Matt Damon
I didn't like it. The original John Wayne one is far superior in my opinion. Don't ask for a reason though as I'm not sure why I didn't like the update. Maybe it was too gritty...
Re: True Grit - Jef Bridges, Matt Damon
This was one of the most unlikely films for me to go to the cinema to watch....but I did.
I thought it was pretty good and also liked the original.
In a similar vein, I also quite enjoyed "The Homesman".
Re: True Grit - Jef Bridges, Matt Damon
I enjoyed the remake but also preferred the original with John Wayne.
One I would definitely check out is 3:10 to Yuma with Christian Bale and Russel Crowe, REALLY good movie and if you want something a little different try Tarantino's Django Unchained
