New Dr Who Series
Sooooooo, watched the new Dr Who at the weekend.
To be honest I think this series maybe pretty good. The new assistant who I thought was damn annoying in the trailers actually turned out to be ok and while I am not convinced Capaldi is the right man for the job I am looking forward to this series.

I was saying to the wife when we were watching it that it gave me shivers like the Weeping Angels episode - so that gets my vote of approval.

Re: New Dr Who Series
Chris Ecclestone did an unbelievably stunning job of resurrecting Doctor Who and bringing him to a modern audience. Paul McGann would have done as good a job, but fate decided otherwise and he instead reads the audiobooks... but they both had the right faces for the job.
David Tenant did a very good job of playing a very interesting character... but didn't really feel like The Doctor and suffered further from all these scripts about the companions/assistants and all the falling in love.
Matt Smith did a very good job of being a very old Doctor in a young man's body, but also suffered from bad scripting and it being as much about the assistants as him.
Peter Capaldi is AWESOME and really feels wholeheartedly like The Doctor. He is probably my favourite of the modern ones so far... but he is being utterly ruined and completely shafted by ridiculous scripting again.
Until now, it's all been moments where he was allowed to shine, teasing us with hints and tasters of what he's capable of... But the most recent episode I've seen, with the water and starry-eyed girl, had him quite free and allowed to be about as Doctorey as I've seen yet. That is what we need more of!!

I agree there it was the first one I have seen him in that I actually wanted to watch it! Others have been hit and miss for me.
