This year has definitely been the most affordable year for investing in 4K, so thought I'd start a thready for anyone who's invested and would like to recommend some good 4K Blurays or other 4K media to watch (legal of course). Feel free to list your 4K specs as well.
I'll start off by recommending the only 4K BD disc I've watched: Planet Earth 2
Currently only watched on a friends setup but hoping to get a TV or monitor in the new year.
Star Trek in 4G HDR on Netflix looks eyepopping!
I have an LG 4k 55" OLED telly.
Would be interested in hearing broad recommendations as well. There is the extra £2 for Netflix worth paying? Is there much on Prime?
My son is getting a cheap 4K tv, I don't intend getting Sky Q for it.
With an Amazon and Netflix button on the remote I presume it can take 4K from those sources.
No recommendations here ... and no 4k TV either. Nor any intention of getting one unless, by the time of my next (if ever) TV purchase I end up with 4K accidentally, by virtue of it bring standard. I sure won't be buying because of 4k. We don't even bother with HD when watching a program available in HD.

Oled is the only new tech in modern tv sets in recent years.
There isn't much smart about them. Nothing you couldn't replicate by plugging your laptop into them or using chromebox/cast stick. If only dumb tv's were still available with usb slots.
At 4k, go for cheapest model you can tolerate. Otherwise jump to oled.
Blade Runner UHD Blu Ray. Reference quality transfer.
Life of Pi was the first 4k UHD disk I saw, and it blew me away, especially the whale jumpy bit. Other than that, PE2 as already mentioned, is superb.
There are a lot of 'film' films getting the 4k treatment at the moment, lots of grain, because film, but lots of detail too as the source is usually way above 4k.
But it's not usually the resolution that makes the difference, it's the HDR and WCG. I see lots of people buying what in my mind are truly terrible films (usually anything by Michael Bay) because they are reference quality image.
The Revenant is supposed to be sublime, and most of Christopher Nolan's films are coming out in 4k.
I wanna see Avatar in 4k! For sure, my eyes will pop out!

Make sure the blu-ray is really in 4K.
Really makes no difference. Life of Pi is a 2k intermediate, yet is recognised as one of the best 4k discs out there. Resolution is only a small part of the 4k/HDR/WCG experience, and only really makes a difference if you've got a huge screen.Quote:

Ah I see from your device description you do. All 4K shows appear for me with 4K next to them including Star Trek. And that was from the first episode. Will get a screenshot up :)
Just been to check and stand corrected, Netflix app on Virgin shows HD! Though the Netflix app on the TV shows HDR. Doesn't seem to be any quality difference between the two though ??

I found the reddit post interesting, I always assumed it was filmed in 4K, visually it looked excellent.
Go for justice league ..
Alongside Planet Earth 2, Blue Planet 2 is absolutely stunning in 4K, well worth the money for the upgrade over broadcast.
