I'm reading now "Homo Deus" by Yuval Noah Harari, where he described future of mankind and presents a new religion - dataism. In addition to the dataism, Harari describes in the book another value system - this is techno-humanism, which is aimed at developing human capabilities. This ideology is based on neural interfaces and cyborgization. In contrast to dataism, techno-humanism puts in the first place the interests and desires of a person. Many issues, such as conservation of energy practice problems, artificial intelligence and automation process, will receive a new round of development. And the political system is no longer able to respond to new technological challenges because the world is changing too quickly and politicians don't have time to form a vision and plan for the future.

this thread was about what was Zac reading - something IIRC we never actually got an answer to. It is not "what are people reading" (though if you want to start a thread for that by all means feel free - we have a TV version after all!)
I'm currently reading Cartel from Don Winslow. I've heard a lot of good things about this book.
