    Drive - Ryan Gosling

    Didn't expect to like it.

Loved it... every moment of it.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0780504/

I put this at at least 8.5 / 10. And as I was so amazed by the tension and sexual attraction , silently recognised, I think it's a 9 /10 tbh

Gosling's part is a quiet/shy stunt driver and mechanic, who drives for criminals as a suplementary income. His neighbour is a pretty girl with a kid and a gangster husband who's in prison.

It has a deep silent quality. I've not seen two people act the "secret fancying the arse off each other" part so well . And there's a car chase or two.

Miami VIce style pink credits and anm awesome soundtrack kick it to perfection.

I bet most people hate it. But it fits me perfectly!

How close is it to Baby Driver? Sounds very similar.

Baby Driver is also worth a watch, BTW.

Edit: Free on Amazon Prime Video too! Might have to watch this on Friday night...

    Nothing like it.
Drive is very slow.... and quiet... and arty-farty.....

    I've seen Drive.
    Definitely seen it.
Maybe I wasn't in the right mood, or prepared for whatever it was supposd to be, but all I remember of it are short comments from some woman....................... followed by a long pause with nowt but staring................................ followed by Ryan Gosling going, "yeah"....................................... rinse, repeat.
Oh, and he had a bacofoil jacket on.

I think I remembered more about the Assassin's Creed movie, TBH, and I actually fell asleep during that!

So what did I manage to utterly miss about Drive, then?

    what did you miss?

you described it perfectly... that is the perfect description.

If you didn't like it,... and I knew lots of people wouldn't get it... thats cool.

for me... the silence between them, the relationship building with not a word was gold.

Maybe it's one of those human interaction/relationship interest things that I don't get in real life anyway. Might give it another go at some point, or read up on what I'm supposed to be getting from it first.

OK,after watching the Bladerunner 2049 interviews,I now keep calling Ryan Gosling,Bryan Rosling,as Harrison Ford kept calling him that to take the mickey.

    Re: Drive - Ryan Gosling

Not sure why you'd think most people would hate it as it was very well reviewed and made good returns at the box office I believe. Mainstream...definitely not but not so far off the beaten track to alienate most audiences I reckon.

Either way I loved it also and the BBC alternative soundtrack version of was also quite good/interesting but I didn't think added anything to it or changed it significantly.

Carey Mulligan was outstanding in her role. And the lift scene still makes me shudder.

Yes Carey Mulligan and Ryan Gosling were brilliant. Most of their communication was through looks and smiles. I started watching films which mirrored the games I was playing.

It's grittier than Drive, truly excellent film.

I'm sure that was one of the first films by him I saw, stunt rider on trial bike. I've been focusing on trying to see all the films of certain directors and actors. Ryan Gosling is on the list. Even grittier than those two is Only God Forgives. He plays a Thai drug dealer who runs a boxing club as cover. Also an amazing performance by Kristen Scott Thomas as his mother.
