New Matrix Film Announced
According to Sky News reports a new film is being made along with some original actors including Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss
Not sure how to feel about it, the original trilogy was great I thought and while I know the ending was a little open ended I don't know if making another one is really needed.

Re: New Matrix Film Announced
That's certainly interesting news, but like you said - it's hard to know whether they can pull something good off.
Much like the upcoming Bill & Ted film obviously also starring Keanu.

Re: New Matrix Film Announced
Agent Smith will become Agent Unicorn.
It will be about how to be sociable within the Matrix and how to cook soy based cookies with the Oracle. Cinemas will be adapted to 5D so that you can be bashed over the head with a mallet if you attempt to find plot holes within the story
Can I vomit now?

Rather they made a Matrix 2 film.

This^ Every now and then a franchise needs to wipe the slate clean and restore canon to a better state. They need to do it with the Alien franchise and remove prometheus prequels and alien3 onwards. Fan lit has done a better job than the official films FFS. The Matrix trilogy was awful. The first epic, the other two just no. Go hardball, pick up at the end of 1, the rest was a matrix simulation, and now the story continues...

Re: New Matrix Film Announced
I still haven't worked out what the last 2 were about. I feel like I was drunk when I watched it, and missed a huge, very important plot point whilst weeing in a plant pot.

Weeing in the plant pot probably made more sense TBH. I remember them being awful.

To true.
It would be nice if we could erase the existance of films 2 & 3 from memory. Then we'd be left with only the excellent first film.

Yes i heard about it too and they have started to work on the story, let's see how it goes. Last matrix came in 2003 and I still remember all the action sequence from it. One of the best sci-fi action flick till date.

I guess, but I remember being desperate to know what Zion was like after the first film, and then they show'd us and it was quite under whelming as was the rest of the films outside of the action sequences. The story had given way to just a series of action scenes. In the first, yes it was a series of western style action scenes but the story interlinked them quite well.
I personally would rather have seen prequels and find out about the other 'ones' who weren't successful. It would have been cool to have a seemingly unconnected paranormal film which revealed itself to be the journey of the first 'one' a bit like the twist in split. At least we know Keeanu is still up to these action scenes despite being in his mid 50s.

Re: New Matrix Film Announced
Wow !
If this is really happening I am already excited about the movie.
Matrix 3 was a little bit disappointing but in general I really liked the movies. I am curious how they want to use the original story in the upcoming one :D

Re: New Matrix Film Announced
Perhaps the most surprising part of this is that the Wachowski brothers, who wrote and directed the original trilogy, are now the Wachowski sisters!
I think only one of them is involved in the new film though. I'm really looking forward to it, hope it doesn't disappoint.

Fixed that for you. But hopefully they can recapture the form of the 1st one, come up with a better plot line and write off 2 and 3 as all a bad dream or something. Please tell me Fishburn is back in, and what's his chops as Agent Andersen. :D

well if it's the one who recently gave a press conference they said it's all a metaphor for transexuality, so things could get a bit weird if that's the raison d'ĂȘtre.

+1 This should be the opening scene! "Neo, if you take the purple spotted pill you'll lose all memory of the weird ass dream you've been having recently about meta-matrices and where you stuck your finger in the holes of CAM's spine implants during an illegal drum and bass rave. If you take the green and yellow one you'll get a sour taste in the mouth as it's just a Jelly Belly sour. For the love of God take the purple one; we all have."

Hugo Weaving :) . Yes I hope so too. Wouldn't be the same without him and Lawrence.

Yes I read that too. Must admit that metaphor went way over my head when I watched the original films!

Re: New Matrix Film Announced
'The Mystery of Larry Wachowski' was an article published by Rolling Stone a few years ago, which was later removed for not being 'woke' enough. You can read it here: https://lulz.com/the-mystery-of-larry-wachowski-5443/

Yeah that sounds about right, it was on the Empire Movie podcast I heard it.

A prequel perhaps ? The war ?

Re: New Matrix Film Announced
I hope they actually want to make a Matrix film, rather than getting something they know has a following and making a "woke" film all about being trans that just happens to be set "in the matrix", I want a good film, if it has trans stuff in it, that doesnt bother me (I loved Sense8 for instance) rather than something thats all about the message and the writing and characters actually suck...

Re: New Matrix Film Announced
I really think they should have stopped at the first film. It was amazing and it really was groundbreaking at the time. The second and third films really were a huge let down though. I think The Wachowskis just caught lightning in a bottle with The Matrix. Pretty much everything they have done since then has been a huge disappointment. Sure, some of their later films have got moments, but I don't think I would be too upset if they had never been made.

Has anyone else watched the Animatrix stuff, guessing that was full of trans undertones that I missed as well?

Re: New Matrix Film Announced
Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will return to their famed roles for a fourth "Matrix" movie, Warner Bros. announced Tuesday.
