Anyone see Supersize Me on channel 4 last night?

1st time I've seen it. Good documentary. Interesting to note that the so-called healthy options mcdonalds and other fast food restaurants are introducing aren't much better for you than a burger or anything else.

Also interesting that when they mentioned the lawsuit of the 2 girls, that mcdonalds stated that they know the processing they do is bad for you. I think their theory being that you know it's bad for you so you can't blame them if anything happens as a result of eating their "food".

The part of it that scared me the most is the end when they showed how much sugar and fat he had eaten over the 30 days and also how much it affected him(and his girlfriend not holding back when mentioning what it did to their love life).

Definitely made me think twice about ever eating fast food again.
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

i thought it was surprisingly fair to maccy dee - it pointed at other brands as well and showed examples like that guy who ate 2 bigmacs a day and didn't have any ill effects. the salads in this country *are* more healthy and dont have the deep fried chicken in em

I think the film was great, really showed what fast food can do to you. It also kind of confirmed my fear that my friend and her family are not fat because of genes, but because they eat fast food....about 4 dinners a week.

Definatly opened my eyes to just how bad fast food is, and i think that the film should be standard education in primary schools . I also think that people should be taught information, i cant believe no one knew what a calorie was

That is obviously your choice, and a fine one at that, but personally it won't stop me eating my "fast food" treat once, maybe twice, a month. What this guy did was to the extreme, and very, very dangerous. I would think that most people had the intelligence to actually not eat "fast food" once a day, let alone 3 times a day!

Still, a very good, and very informative, film. It's a shame it was mainly aimed at McDonalds though, all "fast food" is the same.

Didn't watch it last nite but seen on dvd at friends house a few weeks back. Very interesting stuff, so looks like its true, too much of anything is bad for you

My view is that mc'ds isn't all that bad like someone already said that dude ate like god knows how many big mc's. Its the average american lifestyle thats terrible, what was that scary stat again, only walk 2000 steps a day.

No exercise and lots of food, don't wanna start saying there is something wrong with americans but if 60% of the whole population is over weight then you know that can't be right.

Nothing wrong with the occasional KFC, MC'ds or BK just make sure you walk it off Stay healthy peeps!!!

what scared me was the asddiction he suffered....up to 3 days he was struggling to eat it all, then he went through what he called a cold turkey, but in reverse,...and after that his body CRAVED it.

And his mood swings were mad.....eating McD's sorted his happyness for an hour andthen he was miserable again.

Best thing about it iwas he was totally unprepared physically for what fast food would do.....his missus being a vegan chef, and him eating all organic for so long, no alcohol, no fags etc for a long time before.

So most of us, who eat it on the odd occassion and already eat processed food, would probably fair a bit BETTER, as we are already consuming some of it.

Shows what human kind is turning into? And shows why we don't rot in the soil as fast as we used too, once we're dead. All those preservatives we eat all our lives

However...I will still lust after the odd Mega Mac, because frankly its DOES taste ace.

I saw it about 6 months ago at a local arts theatre.... I thought it was over hyped; but it was balanced I thought, rather than a one man mission to bring maccy d's down.

At the end of the day though there's enough information about telling us we need a balanced diet - whether it's government info campaigns, school lessons etcetera - and surely it's just common sense that having every other meal from Macdonald's isn't going to give you that.

Macdonald's just sell what people buy - if people didn't buy it, they wouldn't sell it.

So who's fault is it really?

is this where jamie oliver etc got their idea for their show? the school part seemed
    very similar.

I think a dave gorman version would be much better.

its not mcdonalds fault its the people who buy it,they just supply the food nobody holds a gun to your head to go in day after day and eat it.
