Hehe I wasn't having a go, sorry if it seemed that way.
Glad to see someone else who likes a wide variety of genres!

For me I'd say there are no idols or heros in music; most I've had in the past turned out to be phoney and ended up grabbing the nearest $/£ (quick example = Ice-T on Law & Order?!). Sad but true
You've named some good producers as they've all achieved great success and I agree that they should stick to their formula and not tamper too much with it. But I'd like to see them try new things and experiment around a bit and try to offer something different but yet maintain their own style that's when you make the transition from a good producer to a great one.Quote:

BTW, "Put you on the game" is one of the best tracks on the Documentary, but in my opinion, THE best track is "start from scratch", produced by Dr. Dre & Scott Storch.
Hi All, Just joined, Great site.
I would have to say my music idol has to be Tupac Shakur, not only because his music can touch anyone, but he is not afraid to stand up to what he believes in.
On the Dr.Dre Issue.
Many regard The Chronic as a classic album, but i don't see what the big deal is with it...
Heh, I was talking about this with a friend yesterday - possibly the ultimate in hypocrisy really.Quote:

I'm sure he's played policemen in other films too
Ice-T isn't the only one - what about Ice Cube...
I loved the stuff he did with Bomb Squad way back but recently I see him in a trailer for some sub-Disney feelgood flick!?
Metallica.
Het more than Kirk on guitar, no idea why though - kirk's a better guitarist, not THAT much better really, but better.
Lars - Such an enthusiastic performer :)
Rob - Immense.
Mike Patton (Faith no More, Mr Bungle, Fantomas etc)
Musical genius in my eyes, but having said that I do need glasses
definitly Cedric Bixler Zavala of the Mars Volta and previously At The Drive-In
he has so much passion for music, its hard to explain
just download a video of the Mars Volta live and you will understand :p
Cliff and Jason were better imo, maybe I'm just not quite used to him enough yet.Quote:

Didn't one of them get squished by a bass amp though?Quote:

Well I have my hands on a few very rare Timbaland tracks, with a country singer called Shelby Norman, pop music-ish Kiley Dean, and he's done some stuff with Limp Bizkit etc. I will post a Shelby Norman track up later, at the moment though I can't log into my FTP.
I was in the same boat as you. I was like "What is this friggin dude doing interfering with his anally screeched shouts of 'YEAAAAAAAAAA' and 'HOOOKAY'". But now I have big respect for the dude since he's actually a really good producer, he's made tracks such as 'Ciara - Oh' (IIRC), and one of my favourites, 'Da Blow' which can be found on his album, and many more to list.Quote:

But yea I don't think hes all that of a rapper, but to be honest if he was another normal rapper without his style (have you heard his tracks where he raps most of the song?) no one would even notice him. You learn to love the geeza really.
One song I would advise looking for though, is a collaboration between Lil Jon and Timbaland, called Rollin', by John DOE ft Lil Jon & Pastor Troy. It was my ringtone for around 4 months, which is a long time considering I change it weekly.
That track is OK, I can see why you like it, its not my particular style thats all, but everyone has a different opinion :) 'Put you on the game' has a 142 play count on my iTunes (and I haven't synced my iPod yet so thats bound to go up by around 20), which is 2nd to a song called 'That's a good look' - by Papoose (Produced by Timbaland).Quote:

I have big respect for Dre, but it's went down over the last 6 months due to his poor contributions to 'Eminem - Encore', '50 Cent - The Massacre', and 'The Game - The Documentary'. But a few nice gems can be found. Lately though I heard one of his tracks, 'Lil Wayne - U Nasty', which is a really addictive Neptune-ish beat, which is like a counter balance in a way.
