Steven Wilson - Porcupine Tree, No - Man.
Fantastic guy, love everything he writes. The sole of my PT addiction. I think it's impressive how much he persisted with writing for Porcupine Tree for 10 years before they really became recognised.

Alive and still playing new stuff I want to listen to
Richard Thompson
Robert Fripp
previously
Jimi Hendix
Jimmy Page (in fact all of Zeppelin)
Slash & Brian May - They're the reason i'm learning Guitar
Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam for me
.
Speardane - do you like Fripp's solo stuff? He was support for Porcupine Tree in Glasgow, and I thought he was generally a bit dull and repetitive, not as good as when he played with King Crimson.

Well Fripp always has lots of theories & sometimes they don't work - I have three soundscapes - one is really good.
One of his outstanding pieces is the Robert Fripp String quartet - another guitar group, it has some totally outstanding work on it.
and of course his wide range of collaborations, which not all work.
I think what makes the likes of Richard Thompson and Robert Fripp stand head and shoulders above all their contemporaries is their range of styles and the risks they take. You rather have to accept that not all of it works all the time. Jimmy Page was my first hero, but he hasn't relaly moved on since zeppelin.
