Left out heavier stuff like Nile, Carcass etc. while I love em they can be somethin of an aqquired taste even if you like heavier music, Nile especially, they seem to divide people like marmite round here. Carcass do however own me tbh.

Well I ain't suprised you like Arch Enemy as the Abbott brothers are those of carcass fame from start to endYou can still hear the carcass roots there in the earlier Arch Enemy albums but these days they are slowing down in their old age and going for the roots old heavy metal which suits me down to the ground
ooooo forgot these also, shoot me please. Judas Priest, check out Angel of Retribution and British Steel by these metal gods, you won't be dissapointed![]()

Evanescence has similarities to Lacuna Coil, so it's a good recommendation given the listed bands... their Anywhere But Home DVD is pretty good.
If you're wanting Goth-oriented tracks, then have a browse through the Resurrection Records catalog: http://www.resurrectionmusic.com/acatalog/
I could reel of lots of goth bands - depends if you prefer Darkwave, Gothic Rock, Dark Electronic, Punk-goth, Industrial-Gothic...
a few (too many) suggestions, though:
Die Laughing (I know someone else suggested them - I'm just seconding it)
The Mission UK
Fields of the Nephilim
Rosetta Stone
Inkubus Sukkubus (they're good live, too - seen them a couple of times)
Clan of Xymox
Children on Stun
Wolfsheim
The Cure (a must, and great live)
Depeche Mode (not exactly goth, but popular with many goths, and again great live)
VNV Nation (darkwave more than goth)
Aesthetic Perfection (again more darkwave than goth)
For more metal-oriented stuff:
Disturbed (again seconding someone else's suggestion - a friend of mine says they're great live, too)
Nickelback (nice hard-rock sound, and good live)
Marilyn Manson (gotta love his cover of Sweet Dreams)
Nine Inch Nails
Gravity Kills
Rob Zombie/White Zombie

I saw a quote once in terrorizer magazine a fair few years back, saying if you don't own Black Earth by Arch Enemy then you can't call your self a true metal fan. Thinking this was a pretty bold statment I got the said album, and it's been one of my favourite albums ever since. I had the extreme plesure of seeing Arch Enemy live at the Dynamo festival in 99, still not sure if they have ever been to the UK. Little outta touch these days with the musicOriginally Posted by Grey M@a

They have been over here a fair few times now to download/reading and a tour or two, they're coming back in the next couple of months aswell iircOriginally Posted by Trash Man

I had to laugh at the cover of Kerrang this week ( iv'e been buying it while Ville Valo has been in it ) it said - Nickelback In Half Decent Album Shocker![]()
Worrying that nickelback have been mentioned in this post..
I wouldnt consider Evanescence gothic/heavy rock either tbh..I like em (good live btw) but certainly not goth or heavy music wise
Nightwish/lacuna coil/finntroll - none of them are either, all Euro-metal. Great bands though, and if you like that kind stuff try Sonata arctica (great band), Seasons End, Dragonland (not to be confused with dragonforce)
Rammstein are great but really more industrial..still good stuff and they have a new album out this month
Have a browse through www.roomthirteen.com for tonnes of suggestions complete with reviews etc etc, tis a great resource![]()
It depends what you call goth. HIM has been referred to as goth, too, while many of the European goth clubs play mainly Darkwave, which is wildly different to the likes of Alien Sex Fiend et al. American goth clubs have a different idea of what constitutes a gothic sound. Clubs like Slimelight seem to have leaned a bit too much towards the European Darkwave idea... so you take your pick from a few variants of 'goth' culture to determine what qualifies. If you listen to the gothic webradio stations to get your idea as to what you can call gothic, then Nightwise and Lacuna Coil are definitely on there, although the likes of Evanescence aren't (one of my DJ friends only refers to them as a poor man's Lacuna Coil).
Nickelback tends to be classified as hard rock (well, they've done softer stuff as well, but most of their non-single tracks have a harder sound) - the original request was for heavy rock, rather than metal per-se.
Rammstein I'd classify as Industrial rather than Metal, too, but they're a good band... equally my recommendations of White Zombie and Nine Inch Nails are definitely more Industrial... but you can be a picky as you like about the classifications, they're still bands that most of the metallers I know like regardless.

Trivum were terrible when i saw them (on the roadrunnger rage tour 05), saw em in wolves, tbh i think it was the PA that let them down (was bad for all the bands) but they wern't great. Sound good on CD though![]()
