Cradle of Filth and Nightwish would be a good bet to go on if you want gothic metal

Not really my bag, well gothic isnt, but for heavy rock you cant go wrong with the classics like motorhead. THe probot album is pretty cool too. Also Mortiis, Dillinger, Rakoth defenestration if you want new stuff or (a little bit more lyrical but still quite shouty) Boy hits car.

Evanescence Fallen is an excellent album I'm not really into gothic but this album gets a lot of Play time at home.

These should fit nicely with stuff like InFlames, Godsmack and Trivium -

    All That Remains
    Stone Sour
    God Forbid
    Mastodon
    Arch Enemy
    Chimaira
    The Haunted
    Fear Factory
    Devil Driver
    Shadows Fall
    Soulfly
    Pantera
    Slayer
    Exodus
    Society1

As far as more gothic stuff goes these would prolly be a good start -

    Lust
    Evenfall
    Inkubus Sukkubus
    Dreamside
    Die Laughing
    Dakura
    7th Moon

Yeah, I don't like all their music but they do have some good songs,

    Cradle of filth - Nymphetamine
Cradle of filth - Her ghost in the fog
    Nightwish - Nemo.

^^ My favourite, not heard any new recent ones though.

I really do not know what all the buzz is about with Evanescence, their live performances on tv were subpar imo and the only good song they had was "Bring me to life".

The best part of that song was the male vocalist and he was just a guest on it.

Like other people have mentioned I think Nightwish are a decent goth metal band but suffer from some inconsistency.

I'd recommend checking out "10th man down" which is the best song I've heard from them but I can't remember which album it's from though.

Well a few of the ones Knox mentioned I would agree with, but get some Crowbar, Strapping Young Lad, Napalm Death, Zyklon, Deicide, Nile, Incantation and try out Nevermores new album. Can't go wrong with these If you want really heavy music drop me a PM and I will sort you out with a few albums to look out for Almost forgot, Cathedral. A must own album is At The Gates - Slaughter of the Soul

And one I am suprised Knox forgot to mention, Carcass, all of their albums tbh, must owns.
