Recommend me some chilled and relaxing music

I need some more soothing and ambient music for late night and bedtime listening. I'm quite into Ninjatune nu-jazz stuff, like Funki Porcini and the like, and even some super chilled out Drum & Bass or ambient techno (even some modern classical), but I'm into anything really am some not mind something completely different. Maybe some nice calm acoustic stuff.

So what sorts you out after a hard days work/big night out?

Cafe Del Mar, don't understand the attractionn at all myself. Anyhoo:

Eindaudi is good, as has been suggest,
Sigur Ros, are also very good
Nine inch nails, but only selected stuff, some of the tracks just aren't good for late night at all.

    Now my suggestions:

Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works II, quite possibly the best chill out album I have, very relaxed, very ambient, very good.

Clfif Martinez - Solaris OST, again chilled out, fluid in sound, lush, most certainly worth a look.

    The Future sound of London

    Portishead

    Brian Eno

The deep space mixes by ASC

    Sonic Youth

Hmm, some of their stuff would be really good for chill out. Something I can never have, la mer, losing hope. Theres probably a few more that are very...quiet, maybe not chilled out I guess.

Most Pink Floyd albums, in particular "Dark Side of the Moon" (only takes a couple of listen to get used the the clock chimes so that they don't wake you up), "Wish you were here", "The Division Bell" and the track "Echoes" which is pretty long in itself.

Would definitely back up earlier mentions of Sigur Ros and Brian Eno.

Another band would be Death Cab for Cutie, "Transatlanticism" and new album "Plans" are good and definitely mellow. i'm sure if you go to their website you'll be able to download a few tasters. And if you'll like them you might want to check out, The Postal Service, a side project by the singer with a touch of electronica pop.

Other bands/artists i'll often find myself falling asleep too while chilling out, or might be good ideas to check out, are BB King, Miles Davis, Bright Eyes maybe, Jack Johnson, Jamie Cullum i quess, Sinatra and the rest of the Rat pack, Mr Scruff at low levels, Clapton's MTV Unplugged maybe, Some of the mellower tracks by blues-y rock bands like Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Foghat, Hendrix etc... but you obviously really need to know which tracks to look for in that case.

    Should be enough there

    Bres.
