Can you recommend some decent sites where I can legally download albums and singles in MP3 format. Previously all the sites I have tried (admitedly not many) only provide WMA files which doesn't suit me as my MP3 car stereo can't play WMAs.
Thanx

If they allow us to download legally, how could they charge us?
Blimey, this revived an old thread. With iTunes' huge popularlity are the alternatives really able to compete? Anyone used play.com or other sites to buy music. What format do they use and what do they charge?
well i think play charge around £0.70 per track or an album for £7 ish, i'm not sure what format they use but i think it would be MP3

I can say personally that most people I know use iTunes, can't really see what chance the alternative have if any.
There are 100's - if not 1000's of alternative options... the majority of which are considered quite a lot better than iTunes by many
Just visit any legal MP3 download site... search for/download the tracks/albums you want, and play them in your music player of choice... which - I'd suggest, is not iTunes for many/the majority of us?
But each to their own 'n' all that

Yeah I was looking at play last night after posting, bought from there loads of times completely missed that section, think I'll plump some money into it on payday.
Kudos to directhex for answering a 2 year old question
