    Channel 5 Downloads :)

Looks like channel 5 is branching out not only with the new channels, but also a download service for all the favourite shows like CSI etc

It look's pretty good, but the pricing and timescale (access to the file for upto a period of fourteen days) looks to be a bit of a downside. I expect most die-hard fans would pay the £1.49 for previously shown episodes, or the £2.49 for unseen, unaired episodes.

Hmm, Niche market at best, Especaly with CSI where each episode stands alone. If they where selling episodes of lost or desperate housewives (or even soaps) then they would have a market for people who had missed an episode and needed to catch up.

The other thing against them is the relatively high cost for time limited DRM restricted content. I dare say plenty of people would pay £1.49 for an old episode, to watch on their video iPod on the train to work, or to fill a gap in a collection, but the DRM prevents that. (Downloads expire after 2 weeks).

In any case, Channel 5 is on freeview, so if you buy a DVB capture device like this one, you can record episodes off-air for nothing. They will be in the clear, at highter quality and you can keep them for as long as you like.
