Trying different tastes

Every week I try to listen to one album entirely different to what I normally like.
This week I am almost ashamed to say that ive been listening to Lily Allens “Alright Still” album. While id heard it on the TV and almost passed it off instantly, it’s actually a very good album. Some of the lyrics ring very true and genuinely made me laugh.

While it’s nothing amazing – it does have some catchy tunes. Worth a listen to even if you are like me and it’s not your usual thing.

Good recommendation. I saw them live in August at the BigChill festival, brilliant they were. Really funny too, she swears like a trouper, a lovely couple and astonishingly good guitar players.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm listening to some Masonna now, pretty intense stuff, he seems crazy! Merzbow was good too but they do get a little boring after a while imo

Yeah, they're very good - i've not heard much though, just odd clips and their cover of Metallica's 'Orion' - a jaw droppingly good cover!

Again, they weren't my kind of music, but then neither were Yellowcard/Switchfoot and now im rather into those along with Iron Maiden/Metallica/Trivium et al.

if you get their newest album, which is self titled, it has a DVD with it that shows you how they make the music etc. It's also in the HMV sale atm.

I actually used to listen to a bit of j-pop yonks ago and it was pretty enjoyable.
Certainly going to look into the above recommendations.
I also try to branch out from my usual interests (aka rnb, hiphop).
eg..Some time ago now, but I thought I'd give Maroon 5's Songs About Jane, a go. That turned out to be one of my favourite albums of that year.
Its great to experiment.
