    AOL Call Centre.....HAHAH...This is funny!

I just phoned AOL call centre for a little advice on my router.

When the phone was answered it was obviously some guy in India somewhere.

He answered and introduced himself as 'Colin'! Weird..can't be many Indians called Colin...ahh well!

Anyway i had to be put through to another department......guess who answered the phone...thats right 'Colin'...but wait...not the same Colin but a different one!

Now.....call it what you will...but i SERIOUSLY doubt there are 2 Indians in the Asian sub-continent called Colin let alone 2 in the same building.

I spose they just make up names or have a list of the ones they should use but come on AOL!!! At least make it believable..

To be fair though....Colin, and his twin, the other Colin were very helpful

Dell Indians have Indian names. But some other call center wierdos seem to have made up names - but their email address remains as their real names - makes for some funny emails from

I get constant 8mb connection (or 7.5 actually) 24/7 and download as much as i like.
I get no drop outs or slowdown.

Besides the telephone bit, their actual BB is fantastic.

    I have tried:
    BT
    Bulldog
    Pipex
    Demon

and none of them were as reliable.

People such as yourself just jump on the bandwagon rather than have first hand experience i'm afraid. The days on bad dial-up are long gone.

well said. i dont like the interface of aol. dont know if you stil have to use that, prob not.

there is far to much of that on this forum, people coming in with comments when they have no knowledge first hand of the situation.

however with the router they try and force you to still use their software following a CD, i nearly did it in error.

when i used their software the service was abyssmal and it just kept turning itself off randomly. however now we have their cheap router at home (which strength wise isnt too bad) it works fine.

we are only on their cheapest tariff but it works for all we need

    Yep i know.
I just use FF and that does me.
If you know how to set up the wirelss router through its IP its a doddle.

I first had a Speedtouch and now a Netgear. Both were easily configured through their IP's and ran fine.

but using their software (to sign on to the net) it's not always on and it hogs system resources.
