you are unlikely to get a 12u rack that is deep enough to take a server.
given the depth of a server , the smallest rack I've seen that would take a full length rackmount server is a 24u one. ( and they are uncommon / expensive 2nd hand , so if a 12u one exisits then it will be as much as a retail one )
edit: corrected the title for you

Maplin sells U9 racks, maybe you could get 2 of them?

Deapth is only 500mm on that maplin one. It's aimed at AV gear, not really for server use, although smaller rack cases would fit.
bitter experience has taught me that there are 19" cabinets and there are 19" cabinets , especially when it comes to trying to fit proper server rails to them.

True, but normal rack mount fittings should* do the job, it is just a home job afterall.

^ might do the trick?
* Not that I've tried, but you could pop into your local store and see if they have any in stock to look at it and see if everything lines up decent enough.
well my DL380s are about 650mm deep (more like 700mm with cables etc.)
to be honest, if i have to get 2m one, i have to get a 2m one! Its just the cost!

Does everything have to fit inside the confines of the rack?
If not then there is no reason you couldn't have a few hundred mm out the back of that rack. You're not going to be moving it about are you?
I think they need to be supported front and back, they are heavy!
so what do you people think.... try the maplin rack? I don't care about overhang, just need a nice place to stick my stuff.
you don't be able to use HP rails on that - they wont shrink small enough to bolt to the back of the rack.
if you have proper 380 rails , offer them up to any potential rack to avoid a lot of dissapointment
the 100 or so 380's we've got at work sit in HP or APc racks
they aren't too expensive , just a bit bulky for home use
