    Broadband Provider

Well, right now i'm on AOL..
If I check the BT website (Or Even the AOL) it says my line can get 2mb or above (Althought it was only 1mb when we first got it). But i'm paying for 2mb and only getting 1mb.

Anyway, I haven't been all that bothered.. But today I tried to play Supreme Commander .. and it wouldn't even let me play 4 player games.

I don't REALLY download alot .. Me and my Dad play games on the net alot though.. I download the odd (Once a week as they come out) DVD quality version of FANSUBBED Anime.. And my sister is on Youtube alot. Is there any reason that I aren't getting the full speed? And is there any decent service providers that I will be able to get (No Cables, 2 miles from Exchange which limits it to 2mb.)?

Well , What I would suggest the you do first is to 'drag your 'kit' to where the 'main telephone socket is fitted.' i.e. when the phone line comes in from outside. Put your 'kit' on at that point after disconnecting all your internal wiring. . Do a few tests over a 'period' to try and establish if the connection is any faster. If it is then you have a problem inside the house with either the phones or wiring or filters etc . I take it that you have checked with AOL that you are definitely on a 2 meg service. If you are and the speed at that point is not any faster (with all internal wiring out of the 'loop' then it may just be down to distance cable 'losses' that is preventing you from achieving a 'faster connection speed . Hope this helps a bit.

2 miles is quite a long way from the exchange!

how much are you paying for aol at the moment?

if you phone them up you might be able to get a better deal, and make sure you tell them that your only getting 1mb....

    tell us how it goes!

I have a similar prob, I live well away from the main exchange. I however manage to get 5 1/2 - 6 meg speeds as it's rate adaptive, which aint bad.

I've jumped my Pipex 12 month contract and gone to ADSL24, the DSLZone lads have just taken over so it should be in good hands
