    Newnet - any good

    Hi

    Anyone on here use Newnet?

I have requested a mac code from my current supplier as newnet look far cheaper and on the face of it have a better network.

    But are they any good?

I'm with NewNet at the moment mate, they did raise their prices shortly after I joined them unfortunately but I'm not that heavy a user so I just switched to a lower package and pay roughly the same as when I joined.

I've had no problems with them, the service has always been good and they've always been quick to answer any queries.

I have however noticed that there are a lot of companies bundling broadband really cheap lately so I may soon move away from NewNet. Though I've had no problem with NewNet I think I'll soon be getting broadband via Orange as it is only £5 per month with my mobile phone contract.

I've gone to newnet from plus, no troubles at all and the service provides a good ping to the gaming servers I need.

u'v made a gd choice with Newnet. There very reliable/fast and customer services are great and in the UK.

I moved to BeUnlimited because of the huge price hike that Newnet did. Sure u'll be happy with Newnet.

Yes the service I have received thus far is excellent and the price is good too (I've gone on the light user package at the min as I'm at work a lot and want to gauge what my average bandwidth usage is)

I only wish they would do something like an ethernet package and cut BT out of the equation (having trouble with my local exchange at peak times)

    Cheers for all your replies

    Re: Newnet - any good

Thought digging up an old thread might be more helpful than starting again - I just want to know what people's current thoughts and experiences are with NewNet - am about to sign up for their £17.95 "Home M with 12GB data transfer" package but how are they currently for web browsing and gaming?

Going to be moving flat in 3 months so I can't go with an annual contract anywhere...

    Re: Newnet - any good

I'm on their top whack 60Gb service, I could get the same usage for data cheaper, but they've been reliable and as fast as I can get. Their unshaped connection has given no problems at all.

Still unshaped on all their packages then? That was one thing I thought could've changed so good to hear not.

Thanks BigFatCat, will probably sign it up later today, I doubt anyone will suggest not to...

    Re: Newnet - any good

I'm still with NewNet on their 25GB package. I can't fault their service, they've been very good. I have had some connection problems from time to time, but each time it's been down to BT's dodgy network.

If I had anything negative to say about NewNet, it'd be that I find them slightly expensive. But, you do get what you pay for. Unfortunately I live in a village and I don't have many options, can't get Virgin Media or Sky Broadband which would work out much cheaper for me.

    Re: Newnet - any good

Thanks Parm. For the 3 months I've got remaining in my flat, I can't say I've seen many monthly contracts at all. And for 12GB up to 8Mb for £18/month actually seems quite good compared to most providers I've looked at - quite a few have much lower caps for the £18 pricepoint.

It's just a shame I have to pay the £40 BT connection fee with them here and then with whoever I get in the next flat, that's the hard-to-swallow bit...

    Re: Newnet - any good

The monthly contract was definately my main reason for choosing NewNet. I just don't like 12 month contracts at all, 3 months sure, 6 months ok but a whole year, yikes!

If you're just after an ADSL service that works, has no throttling and a monthly bandwidth allowance, you can't really go wrong with NewNet. It's great when you phone them up for support, they answer the phone almost immediately and you get thrown off as I always expect to be in a queue for half hour.
