    Attention All Aol Users

I hope you already are aware...but if not...here it is.

AOL cap everyone in the evenings between 5pm and 11pm.

The new FUP came into force along with the takeover from Car Phone Warehouse.

I used to think AOL is great but please please check you speeds after 6pm in the evenings and you will get considerably less speed than you would during the day.

    They:
    Lie
    Deceive

then try to charge you for it.

I am, at this moment, battling with their legal department through my solicitor. Its a real pain but i will win.

If you want to get out of your 'contract' just let them know you didnt receive there imaginary email just before Christams. If they insist you did, ask for a date and time you responded to it. If they cant provide this then ask for your MAC code and migrate.
You have signed nothing so there is no binding contract.

    Its absolute crap.

I just switched my girlfriend from AOL who were charging her £30 a month for a 2mb connection that never ran at 2mb.

My gf is now with UKOnline, 2mb for £15 a month and it runs at 2mb.

true, but if like me you have been a customer since they first started (Years and years ago) you will have platinum for a very little amount

This soon could change though because of the takeover. But i like AOL for reliability i have personally never ever been offline. There lines are 100% stable and if you need something eg. Wireless Router phone customer support and one will be shipped.

Although im not paying for the internet, im using it. Im happy and im getting my speeds.

I was 'shocked' to say the least to find that a friend of mine whos with aol had the misfortune of the takeover by TalkTalk. I'm stuck with TalkTalk myself, and they are a nightmare. Their customer service is a joke (tho not a funny one!) they say 8 meg broadband (the most I ever had was 2) i never know from one days end to the next if I'v even got a live phoneline when I pickup to make a call, the internet connection cuts without warning periodically (thats when youre lucky enough to get it in the first place) the 'fault line' takes a minimum of one and three quarters of an hour to answer, they offer you a refund that you never get, and when you do get a refund they credit it into your broadband account (which is non-existent because its FREE) then they may after a month of trying, swap it to the landline account, then they bill you telling you that you owe them that money which you dont (cos ya Broadband FREE/and it was ya refund foir their awful service!) and then they commit the absolute worst offence possible.... without your permission, they go ahead and take the money out of your bank account.

I would have to say.... all you aol users.... Now that TalkTalk have taken over your accounts, please WATCH THEM like a hawk.... Better still if you can get out of it, please do yourselves a favour and migrate immediately!

I'm a newbie here, this is my first post... I hope Ive done it right, and got the right end of the stick on what the original poster is trying to get over to you all.... if I havent, perhaps you'll have the decency to forgive me! thnx

I use to be on platinum.... for £30 a month since August 2005. 8mb with 448kb uploads.

I then phoned them up and asked for a price reduction, so they offered me 2mb for £10 a month or 8mb for £18 a month.... I took the 2mb, and I still have the 448kb uploads, which I like!

I have had limits to me in the evenings since April 2006. First of all it was 1mb speeds rather than 2mb... but when I got upgraded to 8mb I was limited to 0.5mb!!!!! in the evenings. (6pm-11pm). Which is extremely annoying with 4 people using the internet.

I spent hours on the phone to AOL, with them keep telling me that there was a problem with my line, which clearly there wasn't.

I admit that it probably was my own fault for being limited, I use to use 60 gigs a month when it was "unlimited". If your limited I am sure you can work out why

Surely even if you were in month one of your contract it would be cheaper to pay it off than pay a solicitor to fight your case ? The only possible outcome would be they give you a MAC...

Joys of a family lawyer I just couldn't see how £25+ per letter would do you any favours in the long run but that explains it.

Its really not worth it to be honest... just for the concept anyway...

I know people who dont download excessively and are not capped on AOL, but you are obviously not in this bracket.... so it is your own fault, as it is mine.

Did you actually read any of this thread at all?? Your last statememnt makes no sense at all.
I already said I dont download anything. I just use the BB for online gaming, surfing and email.

Aol are capping everyone during peak hours and they have openly admitted that. If it hasnt reached some people yet then its coming.
From what i have been reading though its practically nationwide already.

    **UPDATE**

After the threat of action AOL have relented.

I have left my contract, without incurring any fees, with 7 months left to go on my contract.

I switched to SKY Max the other day.

Basically, AOL said it was a 'goodwill gesture'.

My advice is if you arent happy then dont give up...you can win.
