    Unhappy Migration Access Codes

Hi I'm new to this forum, well not just this forum actually, all forums, so Im not sure if I'm doing this correctly but here goes...

I am experiencing a problem with Tesco at the moment as I wish to leave them and take my custom to Sky I have asked three times over the past three months for a MAC which I have been given every time no problem. However, the problem is that Sky say that they're in the wrong format every time, although they look okay to me they seem to have the required letters and numbers.

Has anybody else had the same trouble with Tesco or Sky ? Any ideas on a way forward would be much appreciated.

Migration Authorisation Code format from Ofcom

A MAC is a unique code, identifying a particular broadband line, and consisting of four letters that identify the underlying service (BBIP or FTIP for IPStream, BBDS for DataStream) followed by between seven and nine numbers, a slash, and five alphanumeric characters (e.g. BBIP1234567/1F6HT).

Connections based on LLU use an LLU MAC, which consists of four initial letters (LLUS), followed by six digits followed by four further digits showing the expiry date (i.e. LLUS123456ddmm).

will give ya networks cards mac address (post it on here)

How do they say that the MAC is wrong?

edit: Mehh im thinking of MAC address :$
To migrate you have to have the MAC code from your current ISP and give it to your new proposed ISP for seemless changeover!
    Its that easy.
What the OP is saying is that Tescos keep giving him a MAC code in the wrong format.

Can I just ask, is there any particular reason you are digging up old threads, with one or two word posts, which more than likely have no relevance to you?

Basically, it is the LAW now for them to provide a working MAC code within 5 days of requesting it!

If not, report them to OFCOM.

    Hi,

    Definitely report them to OFCOM!

Friend of mine has been having a nightmare with Tiscali, he's been trying to get off their so called service sinve the end of January, but because he's changed phone number they keep claiming they can't help, must go through their head office which takes a month to process and generally wasting his time, he got so fed up with their junk that he had his broadband simply shut down, and he's had to restart it with a new ISP. Even then Tiscali still didn't remove the tags on his line (which tells BT who to route the data from the exchange to) and left him without broadband for 5 weeks, this is their idea of customer relations.

This is an increasing problem with ISP's and apparently Tiscali have been getting several hundred complaints a week since the new ruling was introduced saying they had to provide a MAC code in five days. Let's hope OFCOM develop a back bone and really crucify Tiscali with a crippling fine.

I would call Tesco back and tell them that unless you have a MAC code which is accepted by Sky within 5 days, they will be subject ot an official OFCOM complaint, and CC the letter to BBC Watchdog, that is usually enough to get the spineless wimps at these call centres moving.

    Best wishes,

    Dave
