Yes, you effectively use the Blackberry Pearl as a modem (over GPRS).

You then connect to the Blackberry using Bluetooth (not WiFi) from your laptop. You will need to configure a modem connection over Bluetooth on your laptop. In order to do this you will need to know a username/password/phone number which is dependent on your mobile phone network provider.

I'll try to dig up some links to help you to do this.

    Thats great, thanks.
I was hoping to use the blackberry as an access point as not a modem, is this possible?

Here's a useful link that tells you how to do it:

I'm not sure about using the blackberry as an access point.
