Got my upload sorted out today. Went from about 30kb/s to 130kb/s, which may not seem fast to a lot of you, but it's bloody quick for me
Speed is in my sig.
Does anyone have any ideas what's causing this? My connections seems to be absolutely fine, but when I run this test it gives me an 88% packet loss every time.
Unfortunately there's no closer servers for the Pingtest.
EDIT: I'm thinking of contacting my ISP concerning this, but what exactly should I say?

Download speed is 1.69 Mbps
Upload speed is 1.334 Mbps.
Have you tried any other servers? If you try some further away servers, the distance means that you shouldnt expect v. quick responses, but you shouldnt get that much packet loss.
Also, what are your speed results like - are they near what you should be getting?
When caused by network problems, lost or dropped packets can result in highly noticeable performance issues or jitter with streaming technologies, voice over IP, online gaming and videoconferencing, and will affect all other network applications to a degree. = this would be some of the results of a packet loss problem - see here if you want to read up about it...
Are you connected to your internet via wireless? If it doesnt have a good signal that could also be part of the problem - which will be something you rather than the ISP need to sort out.
If you want to ring your ISP, you can tell them about the result you got- they will be aware of speedtest -plenty of people use it!
.... they may try and fob you off - busy time of day etc, so if you can repeat the test at a couple of different times and see if the results are wildly different, that will help. They'll probably also ask you to reboot the devices you have to see if that helps.
are you using wireless?
if your using wireless network then thats the source off all the connection problems. People really really overrate wireless for anything other than basic web browsing. I can play any online games through wireless connection despite the router and network card being in open air less than 10cm apart.
Sugestion: Get a simple powerline networking kit. Bit pricey but totally worth it. Its like having a wired connection but without any wires
Thats an extremely broad and sweeping statement based on your own equipment that has no relation to the posters.
I for one have no issues gaming wirelessly, and while his problem may well be related to his wireless signal there is absolutely no basis for your diagnosis or the idea that the poster needs to spend 30 or 40 quid of his hard earned money to fix this issue with powerline adaptors. At this stage we dont even know if he does connect wirelessly.
Perhaps a ping test run from PC to Router/Modem would isolate the source of the problem, or a traceroute run to problematic websites would be a much more constructive and informative idea.
Post results in a separate thread and folks can take a look
Yes, it's the same 88% packet loss with every server, the ping and jitter changes but the packet loss stays at 88%
My speeds that I pay for are 10Mbps download and 1Mbps upload, which as you can see in my sig, is better than advertised.
No, it's run through a Gigabit ethernet line, to Smallworld's Motorola Modem/Router. I'm on Cable internet as well, if that helps.
Is there any chance you could explain how to do what you've just said.. I wouldn't even have a clue of where to start!
sure bud, open up command prompt (XP - start, run, type CMD then press enter) (Vista/7 - start accessories, command prompt)
Type in ping -n 20 www.bbc.co.uk
this will ping the bbc 20 times and give you results, you are really looking for an average below 30ms or so, any spikes over 100ms indicates an issues
do the same to your router ip instead of www.bbc.co.uk, see if it goes above 1 or 2 ms, again denotes a problem if this spikes at all
tracert (name or ip of server) will show each stage of the journey the signal takes, if you run this test a couple of times and the problem appears in the same area each time, points to where problem may lie. * denotes a timeout.
