Re: Your broadband speed - post here
At my last house, 200m from where I am now (also uses the same cabinet) I got a solid 72 down and 18 up all the time no issues.
Where I am now, I get 60 down and 15 up, yet lower ping.
Doesn't make any sense to me. Connection is also very time dependent (in the evenings there\'s a noticeable slow down, to the point where game downloading on steam and origin drops to 3MB down. This is with BT. I\'d happily trade the upload for a more reliable connection. Thing is, bt deny throttling, but they must be doing it otherwise I wouldn\'t get a slow down.
Re: Your broadband speed - post here
Maybe the slowdown comes with increased traffic, what\'s your contention ratio?
Re: Your broadband speed - post here
I\'ve no idea, but most in my area aren\'t with BT. In fact, I\'ve yet to find someone who is. All Sky or Virgin.

Doesn't matter - if they're on VDSL then you're all going through the same exchange, along with everyone on ADSL in the locality too; plus you've got everyone in the rest of the UK logging on at the same time. The only bit BT can actually control is your connection from your property to the exchange. Everything after that is subject to the vagueries of the wider network....
Re: Your broadband speed - post here
But as before, my last house connected to the same exchange and didn't have the issue.
Re: Your broadband speed - post here
old copper .. water dmg on the pole box ..
you can have 3 lines doing the same route they will all be slightly different .
Re: Your broadband speed - post here
Utilisation at the cabinet is also a consideration for FTTC; especially for longer lines crosstalk can impact speed, as of course can line length to cabinet. Are you now further from the cabinet?
Also what's your sync speed, according to modem?
Re: Your broadband speed - post here
Not sure - I'd have to check.
I'm a little further, but not by much. Probably a 3:5 ratio, my current house being the 3.

Would be faster if I ran a CAT 5 from downstairs to upstairs instead of the copper cable.
