Re: Your broadband speed - post here
I had a hell of a time recently with VM. Less than 1Mbit.
Since them resolving the issue on their end (without even letting me know) I have put their S*!#hub 3 in modem mode and bought an Asus router. Now I have gone from an F rating of bufferbloat to C rating and my speeds are GREAT.
See for yourself:

I pay for Vivid 350, 350 down, 20 up.
Re: Your broadband speed - post here
Haha yes! :)
I'll have to see what I get on a Saturday evening though - might go down.
My SNR is around 40dB and they've actually added 13dB attenuation as I'm only 30m from the cabinet.
New router looks good and appears to work well. I've turned off the WiFi on it as I have a Cisco Meraki WAP I use. So far, so good :)

Whereabouts in Reading?
Did they have to lay lines, or was it already available?
Re: Your broadband speed - post here
Already had VM residential cable (on a 100Mb service, only ever getting around 80). Fortunately, I hadn't "upgraded" to a superhub 3 so haven't been plagued by all those issues.
They reused the same coax as I had before. It was just a 30-second plug-up exercise! It took longer for them on the phone to register new MAC address and commission the new router.
I'm near Tilehurst fire station, off Dee Road.

Re: Your broadband speed - post here
I get about 54mbps on BT in Cornwall, England
Re: Your broadband speed - post here
Just ordered Vivid 500, will report back when its installed in a couple of weeks
Re: Your broadband speed - post here
As I'm renting out a flat in Paris, turns out it has fibre direct inside the room. Just ordered with Free, a French ISP their new discounted package. For €14.99, I get true 1Gb down, 600Mb up, 4k TV, telephone line with free calls.
If that doesn't sound mad enough, you can actually get 10Gb fibre. Yes, that's not a typo!
My setup will be live in just over a week, I'll report back then.

The only catch is the £130 a month after that, so it works out at £115 a month for the 24 months.
Certainly serious about considering it at the moment though.
Re: Your broadband speed - post here
Its £99 a month for a 12 month contract after that just say you are leaving and retentions will do it again for the same or a better price :)
I worked out everything I was paying separately and for me it saves me money, also to add to your list is a landline with inclusive anytime calls to UK landlines and mobiles plus 0845/0870 numbers

I was told it was a 24 month contract when I rang up earlier. Will be phoning back to ask about that!
