    Post Questions about eclipse Internet

After a little browsing around, I feel that eclipse woud be perfect for my family's usage.

Unlimited off peak and 20GB limit on peak per month, between 6pm to 12am. Go over this and you will be charged an extra £1.50 per GBB.

Basically I have done a little P2P for certain things such as linux, windows vista betas etc and was wondering if this is throttled 24/7... (mixed stories here and on think broadband forums)

Secondly, will it be anything like Tiscali's (which I'm currently on) where I can't do anything from 6pm to 11pm (such as accessing https sites, most standard sites broswing except for hotukdeals forums (their front page is impossible to access though))

I've been with Eclipse for a couple of years at home in London and at uni in Bath. It has been a very bumpy experience. When I first signed up the service in London was pretty good but the one in Bath was dreadful, however, I think this was down to the exchange being overloaded. The Bath connection improved greatly since originally signing up but the London one became a joke about about 5-6 weeks ago.

In Bath I get good download speeds at most hours of the day and I can game in the evenings no problem (although that's a rare treat). My brother, who is stuck with the connection in London, can't do any gaming in the evening and the download speeds are shocking at all hours of the day. The drop in speed seems to have coincided with Eclipses switch to LLU. Although I'm now supposedly on LLU in Bath.

I have to say Eclipse has by far the best FUP that I have seen. Although it's hard to tell if they traffic shape. If I had to guess I would say they probably do and I think I remember reading someones post on the think broadband forum saying someone at Eclipse confirmed it.

I think you have to get a bit lucky with Eclipse. At this point I'd find it hard to recommend them. We have made the switch to Be in London. Hopefully it will be active in the next week or two.

I was with Eclipse until a month ago on a 8Mb connection. I'd been with them since BT first started self-installs 4-5 years ago.
At the time I left I wasn't throttled from around 02:00-07:00 although this often varied but was generally a 4-5 hours period where I could get full 8Mb speeds. The rest of the time NNTP and P2P were limited to about 30KBp/s or less and even HTTP and secure connections were capped at 1-3Mb total (seemed to vary), and limited per thread. This was on BT ADSL, they moved a lot of people onto Tiscali LLU services which were even worse by all accounts. And if you sign up now you're almost sure to be on that.

Reconsider. I waited for Be to reach my area but I was considering Merula and Fuzion, though I was after an unmetered connection.

Enta resellers get good praise atm, http://www.ukfsn.org/ being a good example.

I had originally looked at entrenet and be but at the moment they are a little too expensive.... (I was going to get bethere last year when they had a promo on for £20 per motnh, but I had to wait for 6 months to be activated by which time 02 took over and stopped all the referrals and discounts...)

P.S. the entranet link needs changing

I did, but what I really wanted to know what a few other reviews etc....

According to a couple of users on the adslguiide and think broadband (I think it was) forums, they all sugguest that only a few regions are on th Tiscali LLU service and that up until 2 months ago p2p etc WAS throttled but is longer..

I simply wanted more opinions on the services rather than take your account faceon... (surely after 145 reads of this topic, there isn't only 1 user!)

    Agree with others about eclipse.

I was on them for a year and a half before moving to entanet based isp ukfsn.

Poor customer support for one, a lot of people continuing to be billed after migrating away, which has been quite a lot over the past 6 months because of their service, check out the eclipse forum on adslguide, or thinkbroadband as it's known these days.
They definitely throttle p2p too by the way.

But yeah, I actually get 8mb download speeds from enta now, although only really during peak times where the limit is 30gb (it's 300gb between 10pm and 8am). Can't complain for £20 a month. Kind of an isp that suits both the downloaders and 'normal' users as everyone gets what they want.

Im on eclipse and are the best isp i have ever had, not one drop out that wasnbt done by me, and always around what they told me i would get up and down. also i dont think i have ever had a ping more than 25 in uk game servers.

plus they are ery easy to deal with and have a very good control station on thier site for your line.

Cant fault them after 9 months

I happen to think the 24mb unlimited service from bethere is the best one on offer at the moment, hearing great stuff about them. £24 a month.

Just adding that if you have been to adsl guide, then that is the best and fastest place to contact actual users.
