    Be Fireware update

Anyone receive the 8MB email from Be with the new firmware files for the router they supply?

Anyone swapped over to the new software yet without any problems?

I almost went and upgraded, but didn't have the time. Glad I held off and will keep an eye on the forums instead.

i tested the latest thompson one last weekend, and it dropped my connection down from 18.5 to 15ish. i presume this firmware is either

    1. very similar, as people seem to be complaining about it doing that
    or
    2. exactly the same.

so no, in a way i guess i already know what it will do.

    Don't upgrade

Just thought I would update everyone.

    Dear Member

We recently contacted you with details of our new firmware, which was designed to offer you greater security and control over access to your modem.

Although we tested it thoroughly to ensure it was a product we were confident sharing with our members, it seems that a number of you have suffered difficulties since installing it - in some cases with a deterioration of performance.

Whilst the issue of security is of paramount importance to us, we fully appreciate the frustration being experienced by our members due to these compromises in the performance of their Be service. We have therefore taken the difficult decision to withdraw the new firmware until such time as any and all issues have been worked through and resolved.

We have always endeavoured to ensure that our new product and service offerings are made with our members' experience and expectations as our top priority - in this instance we do not feel that we have been true to this standard, and for that we offer an unqualified apology.

We are working with all the available resources to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. However as a temporary measure we would ask that those members who have installed the new firmware visit www.bethere.co.uk/memberhome.do . Once you have logged into your member centre, click ‘support’ and then ‘be box’, and re-install the previous version of the firmware which we have now posted. Please find attached revised instructions of how to do this, both for MAC and PC depending on what you are using. When the new product is fully re-tested and available for use we will of course let you know.

Please note, if you have not yet upgraded your firmware (as per our previous instructions) you do not need to action this email.

Once again, may I offer you my sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused by this regrettable occurrence.

    Regards

    Brett Coles

nice of them to give an apology, and its not like the current firmware is bad so whenever the new one does come along isnt so important
