Wireless - N1 is it really as fast as they say?

Looking at streaming from my pc to xbox360 but struggling with video files over my 54g wireless connection.

I have been looking at the ethernet over mains which I think is 85Mbps.
But the New N1 wireless gear advertises speeds upto 237Mbps
    Hhhmmm.....

    Are these speeds achieveable???

Would the hard wired option be best?

Absolutely. There are Homeplug devices available at 200MB/s which might be an option if running cable is a problem.

If posible I would go for a wire. It is more secure, faster, more relaible and cheaper

It's tosh, you won't actually get 237mbps, iirc all that they are doing with the newer wireless speeds is using more then one channel ie 1 channel for transmit and one for receive wider channel spacing ie 40mhz over 20mhz.

237mbps / 54 = 4.388888 ( and so on, given the overheads ) so all they are doing is using 2 channels for transmit and 2 for receive, your not actually running any faster in one sense
