moby did you find it able to find any 802.11G also did you have problems with microwaves, if not it could be an updated model.
It would not even detect my Buffalo WLA-G54-1 Airstation when next to it.

Netstumbler still the best - Apparently using the midi out through a pair of headphones with your lappy in a racksack is fairly inconspicious.

Jiff lemon would it not be better to get a PDA.
Better still next years mobile phones should be coming out with wifi built in, now that would be inconspicious. should also have good range .

On the subject of PDA`s what would be the best one to use and software to go with it.built in wifi or flash card.

PocketWinC is still the best WiFi finder for PocketPC.

PDAs have 2 downsides opposed to laptops. Firstly they are normally only 11b, so you won't pick up 11b or 11a networks, and secondly, they have crippled range in comparison with a decent laptop card.

Shamus: Get one with it built in, for the simple fact, it wont take up your precious CF slot which you would be using for other accessories such as a CF GPS or Storage cards. Plus even if you want to upgrade, you could always buy a CF WiFi card for it anyway.

I see Buffalo do a flash card for the PDA`s that allows you to use the security lock hole / feature to secure the CF card to a cable or chain to prevent theft has a signal booster. B only no G or A.

I've seen a Kensington - it either didn't have a very intuitive method of use; or it didn't find a wireless network when positioned next to the wireless router

Quite small and compact though - but what's the use if it doesn't work??

ok lads i though i better give you an update on this smart id WFS-1. Decided not to get one after going to my local computer fair this guy there has loads of network stuff and some of the Kensingtons ask him about those Singapore wfs1 and he said they were pretty much the same as kensingtons an if i were that interested it would be better to get a pda and then tried to sell me a secondhand one which looked has if it had been through the war zone. So i have now hit C/C and ordered my self a HP IPAQ 4150 through about getting the one with flash/sd option and then getting a separate wifi card but they all seem to be 11b base at momment, Now i have the very slow task of swapping everything on my psion 5 over to the IPAQ just wondering if there are any good shareware progs that will help also any good links for freeware etc if anybody could help.
