    Pipex 8mb....

Wondered if any other pipex users are getting the worst download speeds just recently or is it something my end?!
I'm on th pipex 8mb service and i get about 6.5mb through my line but recently it has been under 1mb all the time. I understand that at peak times it goes down because there is a lot of people using it but after those times it normally for me shoots back up to 6.5 mb....

OK this end. I did have a speed problem a while ago, butthat was a lineproblem (voice went down eventually as well) and BT sorted it.

I had major connection issues back in December, fault was found on the line by BT.

I still had slow download speeds after that but it seems to have 'tuned' itself quite nicely now.

I think Pipex may still have issues...

I'm on the Pipex 8mb (dis)service and I rarely get over 500kb/s download speeds, its a disgrace, I'd be satified with about 1mb but I never get anywhere near that not even when downloading from FTPs.

I'm not even going to bother phoning customer (dis)services, they owe me £60 for cancelling the contract and rejoining within a month, its now been three months and nothing as you may have expected.

Pipex USED to be cool, they've changed...

i'm with pipex, i've been on the 2mbps service for 2 years, in a couple of weeks, i will be upgraded to the 8mbps service, but my 2mbps, i have been getting 140 kb/s download constantly, not a problem, so i am hoping the 8mbps will be just as good, well, faster, but as good for speed/actual speed ratio

If you're having trouble with p2p between 5pm and 11.30pm, there's a good chance you're not with Pipex, but Pipex Homecall.

I'm with Homecall, and between these hours, they seem to block or VERY heavily throttle a pile of ports. I've had to setup an ssl tunnel to RDP into remote machines, because during these hours it's just not possible. I can ping the machine, and ftp from it at full speed, but i can't RDP in. Try it outside these hours, and it's fine.

I'm told that P2P is affected, but I don't P2P so can't vouch for that. I gave it a quick shot to see if it was being blocked, and it didn't work (tried a torrent) but i might've been missing something.

Interestingly, the unlimited service is alleged to have a 40GB/month FUP limit, but on the website it implies that you can do "hundreds of gigabytes a month" outside peak hours.

    So I do.

Not had a letter or anything from them yet. if you're a P2Per, it's not a great service to be on, but for £30 a month with unlimited 01/02 calls 24/7 it's not bad.

pipex is good, my gran almost moved us to homecall cos it was free, cos we're with them for phone, but, i made her stay with pipex, as we rang them up, and they offered us 8mbps as a free upgrade at a lesser price

We are with Homecall indeed..moved from normal Pipex which was great.

I don't really use P2P anymore..grown out of it..but it would be nice to have it avaliable, there are legitimate uses for it afterall
