how fast does this download for you?

    hi all.

i have webhosting with hostgator, but forsome reason, when i download off my servers, i get a speed that constantly fluxuates between 70-110KBps, and its never stable OR fast!

at first i thort it was because hostgator were cheap, lol, but i found that its quicker through proxies / different locations in the UK...(???)

hostgator blamed my ISP and told me to ask them to check it out....my ISP havnt got back to me yet.

i was wondering if you guys could see what speeds you were getting for a simple file download.

i live in derby, and im on Demon, and get these rubbish speeds. a friend on NTL/Virgin also in derby gets similar speeds. yet i believe my sister (in coventry) can get good speed.

sooo, try it out, click HERE, and post back with your speed and location. (you dont have to download the whole file)

if you do get slowspeeds, check the speed you get through a free proxy with this link.

thanx guys, u'll be helping me alot!

    1-1.3MBp/s, Be in London.

Hostgator are good, any problems are nothing to do with them.

can people post their locations aswell please. their profiles alone might not be too accurate. thanx

so, so far, either scotland and derby are slow.
or NTL and demon are slow
or a mixture of the two.

HEREs a 85MB ish file if the other one was too small

    thanx
