Heres a strange one, my intel 2915ABG adaptor capping my wifi!

My toshiba tablet PC's default 2915ABG (intel) wireless lan card seams to be capping my wifi.

Its really anoying, nothing can go above 5mbit~.

Anyone seen this before, i switch of the tablet, things work fine, have the tablet on, it slows everything.

Tried two access points, going too try running this tablet on some different drivers as its almost certainly got to be a problem with those or the firmware.

I might try running a 'live' distro if i can find where i left the cd drive :S

So i guess my question would be, has anyone seen this before? Any ideas on wireless settings which could help this (i've tried reducing all the obvious timings).

Wifi networks will run at the lowest speed, is there any chance its in b mode? 5mbit acutal transfer on a b network sounds about right in my experience

I'm forcing 'g on the tablet pc, might try doing the same on the WLAP.

It does sound like somethings stuck in b mode, but with my experiance of b, 5mbit is damn fast!

My b tops at 5Mbps and my g tops at 26Mbps or so. In fact I've never seen my wireless go over 50% Utilization regardless of mode

ahh i've always been under the impression b and g devices would work at their highest speeds on a mixed network - learn something new every day eh

In theory they can, if you've got an infrastructure network, and the packets aren't destined for that device, in practice however, the slow device is needing too talk far too much (whenever it talks the whole network has to slow).

I just need too run some wires tbh, my flatmate is complaining about floorboards (need re-nailing) so might kill 2 birds with one carpet pulling!
