    Bulldog LLU any good?

Lo peeps, just found out that the full bulldog LLU service has just been released on my local exchange..

Anyone have it and got any opinions about it or the replacement phone service?

I'm quite tempted to ditch BT...

Phone is fine. Internet speed is great (1.5MB/s at all times just-about).

BUT (and that's a big but) you get random disconnects. Sometimes you can go days without a single disco, other times you get 4 in an evening.

They only last about 10 secs each time, many BD customers suffer from them and if you ring their support line you get told "Sorry, the issue must be there when you call us"....great support!

I have 2 weeks left on my contract and them I am kicking them into touch and never considering them as a potential ISP ever again. BeThere here I come!

We had Bulldog at our flat, phone was dire, internet was great and when we cancelled and moved into our house, they still charged us three months later, took ages for a refund..

A lot of people seem to be going for Sky or BeThere...

Bulldog is the only LLU at my exchange, and as for disconnects, I'm offline more than on with the BT line..

not too fussed about billing after cancellation as this is going into my parents house long term..

As long as there are no stupid caps, and it's half reliable I'm sorely tempted..

Actually, skip that, I just called them up and apparently my line can only support "1.5meg"..

I'm currently on about 4 meg..

Apparently the service they're offering *isn't* LLU, but standard adsl with a re-branded phone line..

    bah!

    Stoo...

I'd Steer clear mate from bulldog if I was you.

Their line might be stable for me, but yet again for the 2nd time in 2 months they have "cut off" my ADSL because they reckoned it was not paid for when I had statements to prove otherwise.

After liasing with billing and support on Saturday I was promised this would be rectified by Midnight on Sunday at the latest. However, it is still off and they now cannot give an indication as to when it would be "on" again.

As soon as I move I'll be moving to a proper ISP - 1 that has communication between their 2 departments.

I may be wrong on this, but didn't Pipex recently buy Bulldog? If so, expect the service to go to drop off considerably. Nildram were once the ISP to be with for online gaming, though are nothing more than a Pipex brand now. The famed network is long since gone.

Just thought I'd update you Stoo.

Still no active connection - The router connects to bulldog and gets allocated the IP address allocated as standard.

Once the router connects a page from bulldog comes up showing as " You are not on a PAYG service" and this pops up no matter on the URL entered.

Their CS department is bewildered as to why this is still on after we spoke to them over a week and 1/2 ago and everyday we have contacted them for updates but have had little to no information at all, with several false promises on when it would be back up and running. It seemed the departments just want to fly through their " tally " of calls for the day and then not bother on actioning what they have stated to the customer.

As such We've requested our MAC address and are porting across to another ISP pronto.

Isnt Bulldog part of Pipex now ? Pipex for me (as per my current connection) currently means bad connections, occasional dropouts and major throttling.

Edit - Just noticed the random disconnects mentioned above ... Thats the same issue I have with my Pipex connection.

Yes, Pipex bought Bulldog out a few months ago.

The service wasn't great even before then though, I gave them notice of contract termination on Friday *cheer*

Now that Poopex is poo, staying with BT doesnt seem such a bad thing - provided youre on a deal which suits your needs.

Great for me, sync and download at 8 Mbps, no disconnects with a Draytek router.
