    Question WPA-PSK Help Please!

    Hi,

I am having some trouble connecting my PC and my laptop to the router at home!

I set up the WPA-PSK on the router...and it accepts it!

Then i come to my computer but in exactly the same PassPhrase...it connects for about a minute, and then loses the connection! Does anyone know why this might be and/or how to sort it?

My router is a bthomehub thing (not of my choice, i live with my parents and it is theirs...so dont pick at me for the router )

    Thanks
    Craig.

Are you using windows to manage the connection on the computer or some third party software?

Make sure you've got the WPA-PSK key set right in which one is running your connection, but I've found in the past that disabling things like the intel wireless pro applets and other tools and setting it all through windows zero configuration is slightly better, but your view might be different to mine

I have tried using some software that came with my wireless card (didnt like it at all)

And i have tried using window as well, they both do the same thing!

I might just have to stick with WEP if my connection isnt constant!

    Thanks alot Lee.

I take it the signal strength is good and the wireless is not dropping just before this is happening.

Strange, is the connection in the "saved" profiles section and has this got the same WPA-PSK key.

I'm intrigued now... I'm going to go play with my mates BT Homehub over the weekend and see if I can recreate this issue.

    The connection strength is good!

I have saved the WPA-PSK key onto the profile and i have also tried connecting without a profile!

Yeah if you manage to work it out, let me know please!

    Thanks Lee.

The BTHomeHub has always given me connection issues with wireless. To be honest, I dont think much of as a product.

One of my neighbours uses the BT hub thing & she has similar problems, sometimes it will work for a week with no problem, then just go dead.

plug the d-link router into the home hub, she can connect to the homehub while you can go through the D-link.

no its not the greatest fix but it would do the job
