Yep it didnt get interupted so obviosly the Filter must have failed.

Yeah you should have microfilters on every socket in the house that uses equipment.

From your diagram, I would have the micofilter plugged in before the extension lead thing.

Also, BT won't tell you this, but if you take the cover off from your main socket, there is a testing socket behind it. You can try that and see if it makes any difference.
