New Router Settings Advice (BT)

Little technical advice plz guys.
I am planning to install my new router tonight which is a Netgear DG834N.
I am currently on BT Broadband, can anyone tell me what settings/information will I need to set up the new router??

Well you'll need your connection username and password... that should be about it.

Yup, all the other settings should use the default values

Some Netgears I've installed have had the incorrect VPI & VCI settings from default, so check that you have VPI = 0, VCI = 38.

Yeah my DG834PN set itself up for me. I just told it my username and pw and it was away.

My old bt broadband thing didn't even need a password! It just had a username, secure huh!

If you're actually using BT Broadband (or BT Yahoo or one of the many other names they've used) then you don't need a password - BT picked up your phone number and authenticate you that way.

You'd think that but I was using my parents username when I was at uni for a few days whilst i had some issue with the account creation at uni.

Didn't seem they used the phone number as any form or validation there
