    are they all about the same

    I currently have a DLink DI-604 router

    but i have been hearing that Linksys are the best... particularly the standard 4 port model i think its BEFSR41...

    or are all these models about the same... netgear, linksys, dlink, etc...

    i used to have a linksys back in the day and it seemed to be a bit faster than this dlink.. unless its just me .

    Having spent a fair old chunk of money on a product, most people will argue that theirs' is the best product.

    If your router is doing it's job, and doing it reliably, why bother replacing it?

    I have the crappiest, cheapest, most underpowered ADSL router ever.

    However, it does what I want (it could do more if it wasn't for the stupid encapsulation I'm on.)

    If your router works for you, stick with it I say.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Yep

    What they all said.

    If it works and does everything you need it to, then that's all that matters.

    Most domestic SOHO routers functionality wise are about the same anyway

    I wouldn't buy the Linksys BEFSR41 if you're using NTL. It seems to drop connections and needs a hard reset. Other people have reported this too.

    With NTL I'm using the Netgear RP614 Broadband Router (Approx £40) and have had no problems at all with it. I can be downloading and surfing on mine and the other PC on it just surfing and it never drops the connection on either machines.

    Works for me without any problems at all

    Ive got the Linksys WRT54G (Cisco branded now... w00t!) .. a 54g Wireless router/WAP .. it's the daddy

    Ive haven't had a glitch with it since I got it. Absolutely solid

    Yeah, the BEFSR41 did have an initial problem, which is solved by applying one of the new firmware updates

    Shorty, IIRC, this was fixed in Ver 3, which was released later than Ver 2. It doesn't look like you can upgrade between them.
