    Question Who makes the best?

    I'm looking for some wireless kit to setup a small network in my house.

    Not really in a rush to buy anything yet, but I need it for Feb18 (Village Broadband Activation ).

    Essentially I normally run a 3PC network but this is soon to be 4.

    2 Wired Cat5 Desktops
    2 Wireless Laptops

    Occasionally another wireless connection and sometimes another Cat5 Connection (mates etc.)

    I have looked at the tasty, but pricey Netgear 108mbit kit, but I'm really wanting to look into a few more options to see what would be the best option for myself.

    Basically I need...
    • 1x Router
    • 1x ADSL Modem (if router does not have one)
    • 1x PCMCIA Network card

    Any input welcome

    Thanks

    Talking

    I'm currently connected using the following ADSL equipment ;

    Belkin Wireless 11g (54Mbp) ADSL Modem+Router F5D7630UK4A ( very snazzy indeed as well - some nice security features )

    PC's all have the following inserted into their PCI slots ;

    Buffalo 54Mbps 11g Wireless PCI Bus Card WLI-PCI-G543

    Wireless is okay - but I also have a CAT5 network which is used more when gaming both internally and externally.

    Hope this info helps

    I'm using:
    Buffalo WBR-54G, routing into a D-Link DSL-300G+ modem and connecting with a matching buffalo PCMCIA card. Also added an omnidirectional aerial to the Router.

    As a result I've a super Secure network (SSID disabled, WPA-PSK activated and MAC address lock down). It may not be the cheapest of setups (prolly around £170 for the lot) but I happy in knowing its safe, utterly realiable and has fanatastic range if needed!

    What kind of range are you talking about there?

    I live in a converted stone cottage, although parts of the house are modern timber frame, the centre is mainly solid stone.

    The garden is APX 60 Meters long but where I will be installing the router/aerial the signal will only have to contend with a foot width roof/wall mainly hollow with slate outside.
