This is a bit of a long shot...

anyone here use or have used a Compaq Optical Fibre Hub 1063 part number 234454-001?

I think its supposed to link Compaq servers to Storage via 1gb fiber but I am wondering if I can network my backup servers to the DC, file servers etc using it?

It would cut down my backup time and also sound pretty good on my monthly report to the Directors..

It is a hub, so its not intelligent in its routing of data, hence why it is designed for the storage boxes.

If you were wanting to link your DC to the Backup Servers get your self a gigabit switch, unmanaged would do.
