Question Are your first 10 days meant to be slower?

Basically had to re open my account with f2s thanks to BT cancelling my phone line.

Used to be getting speeds of about 850kb/s

After re opening my account and re activating my line with same package (everything exactly the same) im only getting 250kb/s which looks like its capped. Pings are a little inconsistant also. Line has been active since the 27th so just wondering if its due to BT or whoever testing the line for 10 days??

    thats what i think happens?

    Anyone confirm?

    Thanks all

I don't understand this post at all . If were speaking about bb max here, then the line could fluctuate for about 3-5 days till it finds a speed that it is happy with . Once the 'profile' is set than the line should not deviate much unless you develop a 'fault'.

Re: Are your first 10 days meant to be slower?

I think that BT has me capped at ~240KB/s as it always limits at that no matter the time of day/ night

I'm on option 3, so would have hoped for more, especially as I know someone on option 1 who gets 1.2MB/s (did someone say 'not fair'?!)

Hmm, not experienced it myself - you may want to call BT and find out what's going on.

Yes, your line has to re-synch (that is a far as my technical ability will stretch)

Your BT voice contract (optyion 1, 2 or 3) has absolutely no relevance to the speed of your ADSL connection, which depends solely on the quality of your line and the distance from the exchange.

It can take up to 10 days for the exchange equipment to determine the optimum speed for your line conditions and your particular router.

If your ADSL contract is with f2s, that is who you will have to contact with any problems, but you will have to wait until the ten day training period is over before they can take action with BT (who supply the wholesale service to f2s).

I've been told the first few days are as OriginalDon mentioned. The line will determine the capabilities and adjust accordingly or set an average speed based on certain readings.
