    Be Value?

Has anyoneelse recieved an email from Be about this new package? It seems it's basically the same serive as Be unlimited but with slower download speed(upto 8M)and has 12months contract but monthly charge is 10quid cheaper. I usually get around 5500-6000kbps for my download so I'm really tempted to switch to this new package. So what do you think? Do you think this is good move or should I just stick with my current unlimited service?

    Dear Member,

As part of our pursuit of delivering innovative products for our members, on the 29th August we launched Be value.

    What is Be value?

Be value is an up to 8 meg product with increased upload speed (up to 1.3 meg) and unlimited usage (subject to the same fair and acceptable usage policy as our Be unlimited and Be pro products). From member feedback (yes, we really listen) and market research, we understood the demand for a lower speed product with the same freedom of usage as our higher spec products - including being virtually uncontended and no traffic shaping. Similar to our previous entry product, it is priced at £14, has a 12 month contract and is available with a dynamic IP address only.

    How does this affect you?

Well, it's up to you. If you are happy with your current product, then not at all. Be unlimited remains unchanged.

However, if you are interested in our new product for any reason, you are welcome to switch with no cost to you, subject to the standard terms and conditions of the Be value product.

If you want to move to Be value please open a ticket in your member centre www.bethere.co.uk/memberhome.do and migration will be completed within 14 hours. Please do not reply to this email, for a faster and more efficient service please raise a ticket in your member centre or call member services on 0808 2348566.

this is rather useful to guesstimate how much you would be losing by dropping to ADSL

    Re: Be Value?

Thanks Madduck. Looks like I'm going to lose some speed according to that graph but saving 120quid a year I really cannot complain. I've already raised the ticket btw so will be switched over any time soon

    Re: Be Value?

The Value product doesn't use normal ADSL... still uses ADSL2+... All Be*'s equipment is ADSL2+.

I've been regraded... Still syncing at 7709, still on an ADSL2+ interleaved path

    Re: Be Value?

I'm with BeValue and it's excellent, no complaints and I still get the same crummy speed I had since unlimited BE (4mbs, but I guess it's due to wiring)

    Re: Be Value?

Now thats all very interesting and im thinking about geeting BE...But I would really like to know how does your upload speed get affected by the change to the BeValue package? Has anyone taken note of that before and after?

Has anyone got the 2.5Mb upload package? Is it really that fast?

Our test lab at work has two of the 2.5mb lines and it really is that fast yes. Sync's at around 18 down and 2.5 up. Its pretty sweet for bittorrent, currently seeding at 250kbs for a linux distro and the download isnt really affected. Our test lab is however about 400m away from the local exchange in the centre of a industrial park with all new wiring so...

As for be*, I cant rate them highly enough as long as you have no problems and then I havent had any experience. They are cheap and fast, and yet have still restrained themselves not to impliment the FUP etc..

    Re: Be Value?

I've switched over as well. Saving myself £120 a year, I really don't mind about the 12 month contract since BE never complain about the amount of things I download.

I was on the 24meg product but never really got above 4MB anyway so I doubt my speed will change. 4MB is plenty fast enough anyway

Yes. I'm sticking to unlimited as my speed is 14-15 meg.

    Re: Be Value?

    I'm undecided, I currently get :

    Modulation: G.992.5 Annex A

    Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,313 / 10,041

on unlimited. I use it mainly for usenet downloads. Would I see much difference on the lite package?

    Re: Be Value?

    Definately going with this offer.

I'm a previous Be customer and was in the process of changing to free broadband with talktalk to save money. Thought the talktalk offer was too good to be true, which it was. Terrible customer service, and missed activation dates due to the offical explanations of 'problems'.

3 weeks without internet is too long. Thanks OP for raising my attention to Be value!
