    Re: talktalk opinions?

i generally have no complaints with them.

there's the odd bit of downtime, but it's never usually for more than an hour or 2, and i only usually notice the downtime cos i leave my pc on 24/7.

longest i had downtime was for 2 days, but that wasn't talktalk's fault, the switches in my local exchange owned by BT went down, so it was BT who had to do the repairs.

the speeds are generally ok, i've had download speeds on torrents ranging from 50k to 400+ (with 8mb connection)

upload speeds though are about 30 - 40k max.

http download speeds can range from 100 to 800k depending where you download from. microsoft downloads from their website i tend to average around 600 - 800k/sec.

overall i find their package excellent value for money (especially as I do a lot of international phone calls)

generally support issues are dealt with 1st time, though they do tend to outsource their call centers..

    Re: talktalk opinions?

currently have a customer who has had no bb since 6th June. Now at over 30 calls to TT and still not fixed. Bt have visited the property and have sent a report to TT detailing the problem (it's a TT issue with the PPP link) and they just don't seem to be interested in fixing it.

I would never recommend TT to anyone after this - other folks will say they are happy with TT but just wait until you have a problem that can't be easily fixed!

Unlike BE, TT traffice shape, so you wont get max speeds during busy periods for certain applications.

Talktalk is not good. The Observer newspaper has started at 'Why are we waiting' campaign:

    http://observer.guardian.co.uk/cash/...030947,00.html

Have you read the 'talktalk' forum on Thinkbroadband website?

    Re: talktalk opinions?

I remember when I was with TalkTalk. They advertised "Unlimited" broadband, so I downloaded like crazy, then when their free broadband campaign came out they throttled everything but HTTP traffic.

I was getting pings of 1000+ in games. I threatened them with legal action as my contract stated unlimited usage.
