basic options are:
wifi, if you have a provider that services your or your neighbours are careless
satellite: eh, expensive and requires the installation of a satellite dish
cable: self explanatory really
3G mobile: wireless over a mobile phone, 3G PCMCIA card
all of which except cable are usually very expensive
Virgin Media?

Depends what you mean by very expensive?

I have the T-Moblie version of this, and it works great.
If you go cable then your only option is Virgin Media, and they are pretty god awful at the moment. Slow speeds, overworked network, premium rate customer support helpline, 3GB cap at peak times (4pm - 12am) they knowck your speed down to 5gig if on the 20meg line.
Many other problems im sure. There is a forum you can checkout to read all the tales of woe. cablehell.co.uk.
I am with them by the way, and if i had another option for fast internet i would take it (Bethere is not available in my area yet )
You could also try asking your neighbours nicely, and perhaps offering him or her a few quid. A frend of mine lives in a block of flats, and gets free WiFi from a neighbour who he asked nicely.
Obviously if you take this approach you need a techie neighbour who you get on with, and you might be asked to limit how much and when you download.
cable is the only way...the other options are pretty expensive...
hmm well as im living in a block of flats now ill try and find someone with a wifi connection but hmm really dont wanna be paying the bt line connection ontop of a montly net cost =/ im just looking for something to play my 360 online with lol
BT line connection is just them coming around and connecting the wires up properly.
Open up the socket and take a look. There are loads of guides on-line showing you which wires to
put where. If my bro who is not technical at all can do it, then surely anyone who reads hexus
should.
If you have a BT socket in your flat, it's unlikely that it's broken - it's as simple as a power socket - there's nothing to break! - BT always try to say to new customers that you'll need to pay a connection fee, but just insist that you already have a BT socket and refuse to pay a connection fee and they will usually carry on with the order with little fuss - if not, ring again and speak to another operator.
I'm not having any problems with Virgin Media at the moment. As far as I can tell I'm not being capped and if I am then it's only down to 2Mb from 4 - so it's not the end of the world.
just had a look on virgin media and my appartment cant have cable lol but ill have alook for a bt phone socket... but i dont think there is one =/
